Default Demographics

Google "demographics the villages fl" and you will find a website(s) that will give you the demographic information you wanted.

Default Where to rent?

We want to come to TV and stay for 3 weeks for the first time and I'm told that is too long to qualify for a Lifestyle visit. Maybe we can go back later for that. Right now I'm interested in getting the "real" feel of the community and see if I think I can "bear the heat" in the summer.

We will come in May or June with our dog and I have found loads of homes for rent in TV, even dog friendly.

My question is, which neighborhood would you recommend for the visit? My husband is not as excited as me about moving to TV and I don't want to get there and be stranded by our golf cart in trying to visit some of the neat area! Walking in the heat might put a real damper on him wanting to make the move.

I have found maps online but they are not to scale and I have no idea about which neighborhoods would be more "user friendly".

Thanks for any help and suggestions you can provide.

May is a bit cooler than June, but June s/b nice too.
Any neighborhood will do, you'll have time to explore it all.

If interested in new housing, you're locked to looking down south.

Depends on your interests, I guess, for neighborhoods.

TOTV has threads on most everything if you use the search feature, or ask up and you'll get opinions. enjoy

We made our first visit last July ---I convinced my wife to try it --she said lets try the middle of the summer to see if she could stand it .. Its was HOT but we did so many things around TV it didnt matter --many things indoor --rec ctrs ,bowling, shopping lol---and POOLS --- comes 5pm --its great at the Squares ---beautiful every night --by the end of the 4 day visit --She didnt want to leave---went back in December --was a little cool but beautiful ---will be back this June to buy something ---

All the neighborhoods are great --We loved South of 466 (newer area) we hope to buy new --but you cant go wrong wherever you stay --you can get anywhere by Cart -- enjoy your stay --it will go by very fast

I purchased the $5 Villages map from the Mercentile Store prior to our trip and had it mailed to our house. This allowed me time to study the area and become familiar with the entire area before visiting.
Once there, I found the Trolly Tour very informative and the narrator kept us quite informed. We went to many restaurants within TV and walked into many stores and shops. Everywhere, people were so friendly and you could strike up conversation with anyone at these locations.
TV is so large with so many rec centers, stores, and the two squares, you wont have time to see other communities. Besides, from what I read here on TOTV, this is the best anyway! I hope you are doing the Lifestyle Preview visit. It was Great! We are returning in July for more fun-in-the-sun!
Good Luck
-Doug

Default Thanks

Thanks for your input. I think I'll love TV but even though my husband was raised in Jax he has never wanted to go back. He is very active in cowboy action shooting (SASS) and I'm hoping he can find a compatible group nearby. I would appreciate any comments if anyone has a similar interest. We still haven't found a rental for June but have decided on a courtyard villa because of the dog. He has never been "off leash" and I'd like to see how he would react to being "free" for a little while.

In addition, I'm interested in demographic information such as number of single households (vs couples), average age, income and home price. Is there anywhere I can obtain that information? I appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks - Liz
I just returned from the Villages 3 weeks back. I stayed in Leesburg with some friends. We are returning in June for 1 week using the Lifestyle Plan. I plan to buy a place in June. I will use it as a winter home for now.
I fell in with the villages 2 years back. I finally convinced my husband to return with me. I found a real estate agent that is GREAT! His name is Ron Delk. He is soooooooo helpful. Good luck with your search. Pat
