Hi Diane!
I wonder if it's a N.Y. Thing - like always knowing Where your purse is at all times? ![]()

There are also good security systems that monitor smoke alarms and have water monitors for hot water heaters, etc. We installed a system because we are not there full time right now and with all the traffic coming through with service providers and construction, not to mention the ones who just come up and knock on the door trying to solicit business, we just wanted the peace of mind.

As we are used to a Security System in our home we had one installed in our TV home.

While The Villages is a low-crime area, it is not a no-crime area. Having recently discovered that a neighbor's visiting adult son has been prowling the area in the wee hours of the morning, I am reminded that security is always an issue even here in 'The Bubble'. The sheriff's office is aware and has spoken with him, warned him to stop, and I do feel very confident they will handle it right if a crime is reported in this area.
But we need to remember that we aren't just dealing our friendly neighbors, but their families and other visitors who come here occasionally. I'm not paranoid, or quaking in my boots over this, but I am newly conscious that reasonable security measures are necessary for all of us. |

Thank you all for your thoughts. I think that since I'm used to a system, I'll be putting one in. We all have to do what helps us sleep at night and I think I'll feel relaxed that way.

You also have to think about all the service providers that go through your neighborhood every day.

I live in the Villages-Lake county. We have a constant Lady Lake police presence here, I know no one in the Lake County section that has any security systems, we do have motion lights though, and the wild animals set them off frequently though.
I can not speak for Marion and Sumter County's. |

We don't have one, but if my husband should leave Lower Paradise for Upper Paradise, I would definitely think hard about it.
Also, I like the idea of workers being able to view the fact that I would have a security system! |

I love the motion sensor lights - need to have a few put in I think. I am going to do a security system though. I'm used to one.
