What do semi retired or retired people do for extra money, just to stay busy?

Ps. My background is in respiratory care. I love my position but something a bit less stressful sounds good.

Hmmm, no need to stay busy. Every day we wake up in the Villages our biggest problem is that there are way too many things to do and the days aren’t nearly long enough.

You can do what I do, I monitor this site (I gave up on Nextdoor), and when I see someone looking for help and i think I can help I reply, after that it almost becomes word of mouth 'I know a guy'. If you are handy, there are a lot of people that can use a handyman.

There are also plenty of part-time low-wage jobs, if you want to make a few extra bucks but still maintain your current social security check amount. Places like Publix and Winn Dixie can give you just 2-3 days a week if that's all you want to work. Villagetinker's idea of doing general handyman kind of gigs is good, once people get to know you.

I know this is a good question. I don't have to work but the extra part time would be nice to throw at my health insurance premium since I'm not 65 yet. I have an accounting degree. Just monthly posting/general ledger stuff but it would be fun to put in a few hours per week.

Same here - I hit the ground running early each morning and stay busy all the way into the early evening - so many activities and not enough time! I actually have to “schedule” a few hours of “free time” each week on my calendar just to catch my breath, and do a few chores like house cleaning, laundry and grocery shopping. Staying busy in TV is not a problem.

As far as making extra money, every business in and around The Villages seems to want to hire people, so it really depends on A) what kind of work you want to do or can do, B) how many hours you want to work and C) how much you need to earn to make it seem worth the effort. As far as keeping busy, have you looked at The Villages? If you have any hobbies at all or if you're willing to try new things at all, it would take a bunch of lifetimes to run out of things to do here.

Pretty much any small job that I need done that doesn't require licensing or young bodies (roofing/gutters), I hire a Villager. Easy to find recommendations on the Facebook groups related to your Village/area.

Although there are also retired electricians, plumbers and HVAC guys living in TV that do side jobs too.
