My wife and I have a lot of (fairly) lengthy conversations about moving to TV. I am 70 and she is 69. She thinks we're "much too old" to be moving to TV. I believe that age is a number and it's never too late to make a change such as moving from a big house in New England to a comfortable, convenient, smaller house in a fun place like TV. I'm interested in opinions on this subject.

We are 68 & 62. Just found TV last year and are in motion to get there this year. Let us pray. We are still alive and do not believe what the numbers say. Age is what you feel you are not just numbers. As long as you are on the right side of the lawn and want another adventure it should be health not age that dictates. Even if your health comes out of a bunch of pill bottles.
Just some thoughts. Enjoy! ![]() |

We're not there yet, soon, God willing. I'm a true believer in age being a state of mind. When I was thirty one of my best friends was 60. Had 2 Lifestyle visits and was so impressed with seeing 2 or 3 generations all together in the Town Squares, it's one of the reasons we felt this was the place for us. So throw out the numbers and come on down, it's a lot warmer than NE. ![]()

70 isn't to bad, if the 401-k doesn't improve I may not retire until I'm 70, besides, Biily Cystal once said "By the time your wise enough to watch your step, you can't walk" so enjoy yourself while you can!

baybob..... 70 and 69 are not too old; hopefully, you both have many happy, healthy years ahead of you. Living in TV, with its warmer climate and relaxed atmosphere, might add years to your life. There are so many vibrant 70+'ers living here.
I have seen couples relocate here in their 80s...that just floored me that they would be willing to make such a major move so late in life. I can't imagine my 85 yr old mother making such a move. In one instance I know, both of the elderly spouses died within 2 years of moving here...it probably wasn't a good decision for them... they would have been better off staying where they were comfortable. But, do it now....don't wait for 5 years and miss out on these good years.

You'll never regret it! You'll feel and act 20 years younger. This is a wonderful, lively, youthful place that will add years to your life.
Hey, 60 is the new 40! So, 70 is the new 50! Right? ![]() ![]() So, you'll be saying "why did we feel so stuck up North?" ![]()

My husband is in his 70's and I am 51. My parents have lived in TV for almost ten years now, and we have been visiting them for two weeks every spring. When I first learned that my parents were moving to a "retirement community", I was concerned. They are both vibrant people, and I had the typical preconception of a retirement community. When I actually experieced TV, I was truly impressed. I could not believe how incredible it was. I was concerned about meeting/seeing anyone my age (then in my 40's) during our visit, but we met so many people of different ages and from diverse backgrounds and everyone was truly friendly. Every year we go back, we make more wonderful memories. If TV does not make you feel younger and allow for ANY type of activity/involvement you desire, then there is no place in the US that will. I wish that we could become residents, but we have a minor child. It is truly a wonderful place. If there is any negative, it would be that it just keeps growing and getting SO big. Other than that, you have absolutely nothing to lose. As for being too old - there is no such thing. The residents of TV are having the time of their lives! My advice would be to get packin'!

If you're like other folks your age we know, the downside of moving away are the fears that it just won't be as comfortable as home and that you will lose touch with those close to you.
Here's what happens... You get such grand treatment when you arrive that you initially suspect your neighbors get paid to operate Welcome Wagon. You start getting really comfortable when they don't quit being friendly. You invite those close to you to visit. Even if it's impossible, they still tell you they want to live here too. Generally, those who can buy, do buy. Your new neighbors and friends become your best neighbors and friends. You pinch yourself to check if you are just dreaming. (This is not a paid announcement.) |

If you haven't been here then come down on a lifestyle preview and you'll know within a few days of being here if it's right for you....GN

Initially I was worried about being too young. However, after a lifestyle preview visit my husband and I had so much fun we decided we needed to seriously consider moving to TV. Last week we purchased a beautiful lot and are now back in California about to put our house up for sale so we can begin building our dream home in the village of St. Charles.
Even though we don't live there yet, I honestly believe that age is NOT a factor it is a state of mind. I agree with some earlier posters that you need to go for a visit to check it out. My only warning to you is: DO NOT DRINK THE WATER!!! ![]() |
