Who did you call? Phone #? Do you know if they will take a large (tube) 32" television? I need to get rid of one that doesn't work.

Sorry, I can't answer that question- I'm up North now. I believe I just called whoever it is that does the regular trash pick-up. Call around. Good luck!

I took one to the drop-off station on Rolling Acres Road. Go east on 466 to Rolling acres and turn right. Go a few miles and you will see a sign on the left. At time I went I believe they were only open on Saturdays.

I've found that if the trash guys can lift it, they'll take it. It helps to leave them a small bribe if it's too large (an envelope taped to the TV would probably do it if they don't just pick it up). Of course, electronics should be taken to the plant or wherever they're supposed to go since they're considered hazardous waste (so are all batteries, tires and paint).

Be careful about the drop-off on Rolling Acres- one time I went there and dropped some stuff off without problem, the next time the guy told me we lived in the wrong county to dump there. (Our house is in Sumter County) I forget which County is entitled to dump there- maybe someone else can help.

ducati:

That'd be Lake County.

This thread reminds me of when I needed to dispose of something - virtually anything - when still in St. Louis. It was really quite easy! So long as you could get the "trash" to the alley, it would most likely be gone within 3 hours, even on days when the official collectors weren't coming around!

I got rid of at least a couple of televisions that way. Never did know if the new "owners" ever bothered to get them fixed!

They used to say in S. Fla. that put it in a box with a bow on it, leave it on the seat of your car with the window down and park it in a shopping center.

After moving in we will have a large number of boxes. How do we get rid of them? In some places there is a large trash pick-up usually once a month or so that will allow you to get rid of almost anything. Will we have such a thing here?
I'd appreciate a complete run-down of what the rules are. Thanks.
Garbage pickup is Mondays & Thursdays. Recycling on Monday only. Sit out the evening before. Make sure your recycling is in a clear see through plastic bag. Break down you box's for recycling.

Jalopy,
First, welcome to TOTV. Enjoy your visits with the board.
Second, the post you are responding to is three years old.
Third, trash pickup, recycling, and greens pickup are done on different days in different villages, so be careful when you tell people what days to put things out. Make sure they are in the same village as you.

Again, glad to have you here.
