Default Is a van conversion (campervan) considered an RV?

We have a Dodge Ram camper van and were wondering if would be considered an RV. We were wondering if we'd have to store it in an RV lot. It isn't technically an RV but we don't want to park it in the driveway if people would object. What are the rules and would any of you object to a van in a driveway? We want to start out on the right foot!

Do you drive it in the normal course of daily life or is it used only for RVing? If it is just a Dodge Ram pickup with a camper shell I would have no problem. My guess is that it will not fit in your garage.

I would have a problem with a camper being parked in the driveway of my neighbor's house all the time. Don't think it would add one bit of beauty to the neighborhood. If you think it is big enough to possibly bother your neighbors, it probably is too big.

I was in the auto business and I think your described it wrong it is a van conversion not a camper. It has a fold out bed but no shower or commode & may or may not have a raised roof. In order for it to be an RV it would need to have a commode & shower then it would be considered a class 3 motor home.

I think most of "the rules" are designed to ensure that neighbors remain neighbors in every sense. I would check with your district, but if you ask yourself, how would others view this, and the answer is they might reasonable object, then I would rather have good neighbors than a converted van in the driveway.

Default It is a class 3 RV according to diskman

Thanks for your input. We thought it was probably too big and I wouldn't want one in my neighbor's driveway either. It does have a shower and commode and it's too high to fit into the garage. We thought that was the case and thanks everyone for letting us know to do the right thing and store it!

Default Roadtrek

We have a Roadtrek. Although we bring it home for a few days before we go on a trip, we usually have it stored in The Villages storage area off Rolling Springs Rd.
