Smile We Loved Our LSV!

We just got back from The Villages and had a fabulous time. It is all that and a bag of chips!

Based on recommendations here at TOTV we tried a variety of activities:

Shows: Dunning and Moore show (just amazingly talented performers). We were seated with a friendly couple near the front and loved every minute of the show.

Movies:The movie wasn't so great but we loved the beautiful theater at Lake Sumter.

Dining: We ate at Arnold Palmer. Johnny Rockets, Cody's, Katie Belles, the Lighthouse, Red Sauce and had drinks at City Fire. I also had lunch at Toojays and a snack while people watching at Starbucks. Overall I thought the meals were good. Loved the pizza at Red Sauce. Lobster at the Lighthouse was a terrific value and Toojays sandwiches and pastries yum!

More: Hubby played golf at Arnold Palmer and Mallory. I was the sole rider on one of Trolley Ride tours and got one on one info from Carol the tour guide who was just terrific.

We swam in the pool near our villa and it was so refreshing.

We also saw a few of the community centers including Miona and Colony. The Music in Motion ladies tap dancing at the Colony was amazing!

Hit the town square several evenings and enjoyed watching the line dancers, 2 for 1 drinks and the fab Rocky and the Rollers who had the crowd rocking!

We also toured a number of homes with our realtor Beth Pope who was perfect. Very knowledgeable and knew just what to show us.

Driving: I was shocked, shocked, shocked by how much I loved tooling around in a golf cart. I truly dislike driving a car but loved driving a golf cart. I even enjoyed driving around in the crowds during the entertainment at the town square. Now we had a few set backs. I was blinded by the sun and went up on the sidewalk on the narrow two lane bridge and came down with a thump (thankfully we did not topple over). Also hubby accidentally drove on a car only street. But other than that, it was so much fun!

People: On the whole everyone was so friendly. I enjoyed meeting Laura from TOTV for lunch. And we met other lovely people. Everyone we met said they loved their life at the Villages! And crazily as we were leaving the woman who took our keys was from the same small town in Maryland we are.

Overall just a terrific visit. We really love the lifestyle!

Oh Lee! I know we are all so glad to hear you enjoyed your visit. I am so HAPPY to hear that you enjoyed the golf cart riding as I know that driving a car is something you don't enjoy.

I personally am so sorry we didn't get to meet this time, but plan to remedy that when you return.

So return soon so we can welcome you home.

And Lee...I don't get any kickbacks for my attitude about this place.

You now can see why I truly feel so blessed to live here.

Sounds like you had a fabulous time and did a lot of activities. We just came back from a LSV and didn't get to do as much because it rained 3 days out of 4.

Your husband is not the only one to drive the cart down a car street. We did the same thing on Morse Blvd. We were flagged down and led to the golf path.

I agree about the friendly people and thought it was amazing. We have visited twice and each time we had offers from people to stay at their house. Who does that? Offers like that do not happens from strangers up north. We hated to come home to grumpy, rude people in Michigan.

My husband wasn't sold on TV but it was the friendliness of the people that won him over and we ended up buying a house on our visit.

LSV are a great way to be introduced to TV lifestyle. What small town in Maryland are you from?

I'm an army brat but we have lived in Frederick, Maryland for many years.

One thing I did not see was major department stores like Macy's, Nordstrom's etc. I am not a big shopper but I do like buy a few new things once in a while. How far is it to stores like that? And are there organized bus trips to shopping areas?

Glad you had a great time. It's been about 20 months since our LSV visit, and reading your post brought back some good memories.

It certainly sounds like you made the most of you're visit -- congratulations !

Lee, glad you had a great time! You must have resisted, most folks buy on their first trip to TV. We hope you return soon!

We did a LSV and I thought I would never buy a house in Florida. Hot, bugs, etc... we were here two days and committed to our home which we love. TV is a great place and must be seen to be believed!
Now we are here for third week and have a lifetime ahead...

There is a Macy's about a half hour from the Villages. In order to shop at the kind of malls which have stores like Nordstrom, you will need to drive an hour to Orlando. I have never taken an organized shopping bus trip to Orlando, perhaps someone else can answer that question.

I have lived here since January and just recently discovered Belk..and they sell Clinique so I won't have to drive to Orlando again! I too miss being able to run to the mall when I have a free day but it's a small price to pay. I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit but I don't remember reading if you are planning a move soon. Hurry down here!

We too are from NJ and have been here 7 years. When we told our friends in NJ that we were moving to FL, all we heard was how miserable we were going to be in the summer, etc. Summer in the Villages is no hotter nor more humid than summers in South Jersey. We love it here and would never think of moving!
