Well, I'm 51 and he's 56. Seems the demographics are changing. I've heard, and I believe it's true, that younger folks are moving in, but it honestly doesn't matter to me. My parents are both 80 and have more stamina than I'll ever have! BTW, we're also coming from Colorado!

48 and 58!
Me 48, Hubby 58, own an Amelia home ( so we are south of 466! ) and are PTimers for now. House in VA is on the market and as soon as it sells, we will be frogs! We love our neighbors in TV, and there is a large mix of ages. One of my favorite neighbors is 83! I have come to understand that the age thing only bothers you and not the villagers, but I started out feeling just like you. It has only been through this website and meeting folks when we get down that it has eased my mind. I , like you, was concerned about how I would be accepted b/c I knew that I had NO problem with anyone else's age. I am not Ft yet so I am probably not a good resource, but that's my two cents worth!

Nope. I am 59 and one of the oldest on my block. I cannot keep up with Villagers older than me. I sweat just walking around the block and yet people 10 or more years older than me are playing softball, pickleball and doing other things I would not even attempt.
In 2000 the average age here was 68. Today it is 60 according to what I read. TV is attracting a new demographic in my opinion. I am very interested in hearing from the new people I meet at the pool. Many are fully. Others, like me, still have to work but we moved here to get away from winter, high taxes, expensive housing costs, etc.. While others are semi retired and have a part job. Some are snowbirds, some buy a house here to use on vacation. All kinds of people here Whatever your reasons you will enjoy the lifestyle here. My only negative is that many activities occur during the day when I am working, but then again, this is a retirement community so I expected that. Back up north we often just sat home because we were bored. Our options were limited as to things to do. In TV we seldom have a day go by where we have nothing to do. Those days are usually the days it rains all day. Otherwise there are always old and new friends to meet at the pool, new restaurants to try out and many areas to explore. I think a big issue in the average age dropping is the fact that a LOT of people (us included) were downsized and took the packages that were offered for early retirements. Many of our neighbors and friends here in the northeast from several large corporations were offered these "bridges" to 62 if they had a combined age+years of service to equal 75. The opportunity to move south where the weather is milder, cost of living is less and a more active lifestyle is just too tempting.

Still too young
My husband and I were both 56 when we retired and moved to TV 5 years ago. It was the best thing we ever did. I believe the earlier you can do it the better.

My husband, Mike, and I will be moving there in October. I will have just turned 50 and herwill be 60 in December. We are very "sporty" but from what we could see when we were down a few weeks ago, there are ALOT of very, very active people. I don't know how old they were but they were out in the blazing sun doing all sort of things and laughing up a storm in the bars! I told my husband, "we better loosen up a little". I think TV has everything to offer especially GREAT people. Our next door neighbors, who we meet for about 10 minutes while wondering around on our homesite, have sent us pictures and updates of our home going up without our asking. Now where else would something like this happen???? What a place.

My hubby will be turning 63 in Sept, and I turned 55 a few weeks ago. Sounds to me that people will be a lot younger than we thought! It doesn't matter to us. We enjoy talking to people who are both younger and older than we are! I hope there are a lot of "getting to know you" gatherings! Vicki
