Hi, my husband and I are planning to place our house in West Virginia on the market at the end of June. We wonder if any of you can help us with some of our questions.
We will be renting a house in the village of Summerhill for the month of July. What is Summerhill like? Some of our interests include Swimming ,crafts, water excerise, woodworking and activities at the rec centers. Can we take classes or join groups of clubs while we are there? Are the different villages like small towns or are they like subdivisions in a city? We have gotten some wonderful advice when we have been here before. We will be thankful for any help. My husband and I purchased a property in Summerhill last May. We will not be able to move down for at least 3-4 more years and rent our house a few months a year. Our neighbors are great. In July went we went down for a first visit. I went door to door on our street and invited the neighbors to a 2 hour afternoon drink/snack party. Everyone who I invited except the one single guy came. Be brave and introduce yourself. We really liked Summerhill because of the close proximity to stores and restaurants. If you go to the Summerhill pool just say Hi and you will be warmly greeted. Ask people what they like to do. The different villages are more like a subdivision. Go to the rec center and get the recreation section of the paper. Go try whatever sounds good to you.

I think of the villages themselves as being more like city blocks. Some blocks are friendlier than others. Otherwise, they're all pretty much the same.
Summerhill is a very nice area close to 466, Publix and Wal-Mart. Lots of restaurants in that local. Summerhill has a very nice pool. Folks are pretty friendly at it. You're close to Laurel Manor Rec Center, as well as the rec centers near the high school. So, you'll be pretty close to many activities. Nice location, nice folks live there, but it is a quieter neighborhood. Make sure your homeowners turn in their ID cards so you can get a resident ID card for $50.00 (sometimes included in your rental fee, sometimes not). That ID card entitles you to entry to all the clubs, rec centers, swimming pools, etc.

The person who introduced me to TV moved to Summerhill after living in Palo Alto. A nice section, near everything.
You will love it there!!!

My husband and I have been living full time for 5 years in the Village of Summerhill. We love it! We believe it is the most convenient village in The Villages. And the pool people are awesome! I know you will love it too!

Summerhill nice village close to everything. 3/1/2 miles or so to Sumter Landing Square depending where the home is in Summerhill---just a nice golf cart ride. If a cart doesn't come with your rental, you might want to rent one---no better way to see The Villages.
Very nice church close by The New Covenant United Methodist with lots of programs and activities including golf groups. Enjoy your visit---expect much fun!

Summerhill location is great. Golf cart ride to Publix, Walgreens, Steak n' Shake, even Walmart.
close by is Savanah rec center for various water aerobic classes. pick up a free rec center newspaper at any of the rec centers, it lists all the clubs and activities for all the Villages. send a private message if you would like to have us show you around in the golf cart since we live in Summerhill. |
