Default zoomba

My wife wonders if there are Zoomba classes offered in TV and how she would go about getting into them. We will be down in March for the month and she wants a Zoomba class to attend.

The Recreation Guide lists 2 classes:

Zumba Fitness Party from 4-4:50 Wednesdays at Allamanda Center. This class is open to all.

Advanced Zumba Fitness Fun 4-5pm Tuesdays at Allamanda Center. This class requires prior attendance in an approved course or approval by the instructor. Class size is limited.

For more info call Elaine at 352-430-9444

Hope this helps

Default Zumba classes

Because a class can only be called "Zumba" if taught by a certified instructor, there are free Zumba classes by other names every weekday, using the videos of Beto Perez, the originator of Zumba fitness. They are listed in the Thursday rec guide of the Daily Sun (also found at rec centers) and are held at Cocoanut Cove Rec Center and Bacall Rec Center, under the names, "Dance Off" and "Shake It Up Exercise", respectively.

I am anxious to try one of these classes. How strenuous is "Zumba"?

Will I collapse half way thru???

On a scale of 1 to 10, for the (ahem) more mature ladies and gentlemen, I would rate it an 8 or 9. It's very fast-paced and nearly nonstop-but fun!

I agree with Judynlee. It is very strenuous and is a non-stop program for 1 1/2 hours. I could only do it for 1 hour and I was pooped. Its a great exercise program for getting your heart rate up and has the latin music so its a lot of fun. The instructor at Coconut Cove rec center is very good and really explains the steps very well. It can be confusing because it has many Latin dance steps and is extremely fast paced.
Be sure to bring towels and water, you'll need it.
