Default High Efficiency Washers.. Do you like them?

We bought a new High Efficiency top load Maytag washer and dryer recently and it really is different from the older ones we had. I was shocked to see how little water it uses for normal and whites load. You can barely see the water standing over top of the clothes. Sometimes the clothes look almost dry.
It's supposed to get clothes cleaner by using less, more concentrated detergent and save on water. It has taken some getting used to, but now I actually think I like it. Has anyone else bought these and what do you think of them? I almost returned them because the lack of water didn't make sense.

Default Love my front loader

I have one of those washers and have had one for about 8 years. I really love it. I does use a lot less water and it does get your clothes clean. I wouldn't have any other washer. It's perfect for me. I recommend it.

I have a maytag also. It seems to be leaving stains (maybe from softener?) on my clothes. I use the he detergent. I am now using softener sheets and that has resolved the problem. I had a maytag neptune that was much better.

Mine does whites just right if I add bleach, but I have to put the bleach in the bottom of the washer instead of in the bleach holder. I had a problem when I first washed whites with bleach and then did a colored load afterwards. It leaked some bleach on my colored clothes. If I wash colored clothes on the hand wash cycle and if they have a stain, I have to rub it out with Shout first or the stain stays in. I do like the hand wash cycle alot though because my old washer was really beating up my clothes. I also like the bulk cycle. I was able to wash my king size comforter. I have the Bravo model.

I'm on my third set (always end up selling with the house) and would not go back to the old style of washer. We stacked them in our house in TV to add storage space in the laundry and I am really glad we did.

I have a HE front load washer from Maytag and have had it for several years. We love it. It uses far less water, is quieter and does a great job. Also, it is so much easier on your clothes and doesn't beat them up or twist them in the harsh way the old toploader regular washers used to. I will never go back. Problem for me is now that I have just closed on my new home in TV (but haven't moved in yet) I dread leaving my old washer and dryer behind. They no longer make the old dryer I have which is a Whirlpool with a top and bottom dryer, the top cabinet wiggles your clothes clean with gentle heat for clothes that can't be spun dry. THAT is a spectacular dryer I would love to replace at any cost but I don't believe they make it anymore <sigh>.

Default Maytag

Ours are ordered at Lady Lake Lowes. 10% off and military discount

Home Depot does not give military discount. Lowes gives 10% off all day.

Glad you like them. We did much research and were hoping these work.

Thanks for the report

The home I am renting has LG front load washer and dryer. I was worried I wouldn't like them as I have several friends who hate theirs. I LOVE THEM! When I do buy I will be sure to get front loaders.

I noticed some are talking about front load and you mentioned top load. I have both. I have a front load in a vacation home, love it. I have top load HE in my home, I hate it. I can't wait till I sell my home and move to TV. It will be one thing I will be sure to leave behind.

Home Depot does offer a 10% military discount for retirees as does Lowes. We bought our LGs from Lady Lake Home Depot. With the discount and a sale going on, the HE top loaders were about the same price as the traditional washer/dryers.

I love my Whirlpool HE Duets, but I too have stains on my clothing - small brown marks on white athletic "wicking" type fabrics. I hardly ever use softener at all - does anyone else have this problem?

Default HE W/D terrific

We have a stacking set up north and love them. Can't believe how clean thigs get with such little water and spinning. Wish we had them in TV but the set that came with the house still works well so it isn't a priority yet. Got ours through Sears up here but would go there again down in TV in Summerfield. The outlet there is very good. Have always done well with Kenmore.
