I too have been an Apple user since the IIe. I currently have a iMac, iPhone, mac book pro, and an iPad.

I watch all HBO shows on my iPad with HBO Go. I find the experience on the iPad more satisfying then on our cable TV. I have caught up on several series (True Blood, Hung, Curb Your Enthusiasm...) Unfortunately you have to subscribe to HBO with your cable provider in order to use this app. I would love to be able to pick and choose only the premium series that I want and not have to pay for the whole gamete of shows on HBO. Shows like Bill Maher could be voted off the air due to poor ratings.

Not everyone has wireless or a laptop to spare for the straming.

I will stick to the cable and the problems I have with them before I go through the expense of getting the pieces I need to stream video.
What I am looking for is a carrier to give me one price for premuim cable internet service for computer and an iphone. Cable apparently is getting the message since they now have DVR which in the near future will be cloud-like and with On Demand;albeit they still add on commercials with ABC the only On Demand that will not allow you to advance pass them

In order for all of this to occcur the FCC has to step out of the way and open up broadband, etc

I will admit I am getting frustrating with the way stations schedule programs. I need a computer program to determine when my favorite will reappear after their hiatus
