For my money this is long overdue and I really hope that Nancy Lopez will not be far behind this two ladies.
Not even remotely discrimination. Simply consistent with the rules. Previous CEOs were men. It is a men's club. By your logic, it is discrimination for The Villages to disallow home ownership to a percentage greater than 20% under age 55. Is it discrimination for girls to be denied entry to the Boy Scouts? What is in the world is wrong with just playing by the rules?

And rules can be changed. If a group has set rules that is fine but in my opinion when they step onto a very public stage, and solicit funding for such event, then that creates a different environment. Not sure how The Villages though would be discriminating when they are following a state law.

No one forced Augusta to admit women. For years they stuck to their guns that it was a men's club and no women would be admitted. That was their right, whether you believed it was correct or not. Other groups disagreed with their stance and exercised their rights to protest. The protests of late were not very vocal and did not seem to do much to effect the tournament or advertising dollars. We have no idea why Augusta decided to admit women, but just like everything else they do, it was decided behind closed doors because they are a private club. No one, Augusta or the protesters have done anything wrong. I, for one, support their decision. I also would have continued to watch The Masters if they had not decided to admit women.

The Masters Tournament is a single annual event that is hosted by Augusta. Their choice to host this event should not have to change their charter. The Miss America Beauty Pageant is a national spectacle. Should they be forced to allow men to participate? This will never make sense to me. Why would any woman want to be a part of a men's club? This melding of the sexes is part of the erosion of the core values of this country.

Guarantee you no Jeans either. It was only a matter of time. Augusta National "braved the storm" a few years ago with protests from several Women Groups and would not succumb to political correctness. Because they had the $$$$$$ they could afford to do so. Notables that the ladies join include: Buffett, Gates, Pickens, jr. Coors and Palmisano to name a few.

Sorry to say it, but who would want to infiltrate a Woman's club? And for what reason?

I agree, Jim. Just pointing out that if they did there would be a lot of screaming.

Who the heck is 'ole boy' ? I always read posts of double eagles and other great golf feats and now he also hung out at Augusta? Famous golf amateur? Pro? I am duly jealous

As far as what Augusta did, IMO it is up to them and their membership. I do not believe they had any obligation to ever let women in. Now the 'ole boys' will have to wear towels when they walk around the club

That said, congratulations to the ladies who received the new membership, although I heard from someone who read a post online from a guy whose neighbor's sister in law heard from a women at a local store in Georgia whose cousin knows a person that works at Augusta that the ladies got a new type of membership. Play anytime after 1PM on the 31st of each month unless a men's tournament is scheduled.

Naaaa! They would make a rule against that.

I'm going to need a better reason to infiltrate.

Default AJ you are toooo funny!

Your the one to be envied...your so clever with your cart renovations!...Wow!...His invitation to Augusta was from Billy Joe Patton, very famous amateur that was a member at our NC country club (I was sooooo green with envy!)
