Has anyone had any experience with East Coast Auto Transport? Am considering use them to transport a vehicle from Massachusetts to The Villages in the Fall of this year.

No, I used Suncoast Auto Transport - Car Shipping | Auto Transport | Auto Shipping in my move from LA to TV. They are based in Ft. Lauderdale, and they were excellent. Had absolutely no problems.

Did they deliver to your Village home or did you have to pickup at a terminal? Was it expensive?

That's a great website which I just showed to my husband. I saved it.

Had we not just sold our boat, we would have had to transport it and I see that they do boats and trailers, etc. as well as the vehicles; motorcycles, etc. If we don't sell our S.U.V. by next spring, etc., then we would definitely use this service.......maybe for the sedan as well.....and just fly down.

Back in 1994, we flew to Sarasota Florida but had our one sedan put on the Mayflower Moving van along with our boxes..........it was quite the sight, late at night, with the guys loading the car on........it showed up in great shape; we just had the rental car for a week or so.

I requested a quote from Suncoast using their website his morning and within two hours we received a phone call with a quote of $825 for door to door from Massachusetts to Florida.......thanks Kathie for the info.

Some food for thought regarding using a transport company - - - - -

Ask them a few questions:

- Will they broker the transport of your car to another company? (getting an additional party involved can complicate things....and some companies that represent themselves as transport companies are exclusively brokerages!) Many, many companies are exactly that - brokerages. They own no equipment and employ no drivers. They simply make arrangements for other companies to transport your vehicle. Not saying there's anything bad/wrong with the concept but it does get "more cooks in the kitchen".......
- - - - can add additional wrinkles if you need to get questions answered once the transport is underway
- - - - can present issues if a damage claim would need to be filed.

- How many times will they off-load and re-load your car between your old house and TV? (every time someone moves your car, there's potential for problems)

- How tightly will they guarantee a pick-up date/time and a delivery date/time?

- Will they provide door-to-door service? (some transport companies will want to specify non-residential pick-up and drop-off points)

Read and understand the contract presented to you and understand how problem resolution works with them before signing it.

Also consider buying a car cover for the car and ask if they will allow you to use it. Everytime we move our cars are shipped arranged by our new employer and if they didn't allow the car cover we had rub marks on the paint from the tie down straps. They paid to have the paint touched up but it's not the same. Also take pics of the car all around with a time date stamp in the frame so no confusion over any damage.

Update......we ultimately used Suncoast auto Transport (thank you...KathieI) and they were extremely professional. The driver scheduled to pick-up our vehicle was extremely courteous and asked that we bring the vehicle to the bottom of the street as the subdivision I live in had mature trees and was concerned with the potential for tree branch damage to the cars on his multi-level auto carrier. My car arrived in The Villages safely and I was quite pleased with the overall experience. I would recommend Suncoast for your auto transport.
