investigative reporter in today's media world is an oxymoron. Reporters are suppose to get information using the What Where When Why but most fail intentionally or otherwise as to the Why...guess not curious enough.

The media have lost all credibility and will intentionally mislead people and in some situations intentionally lie in order to support their political biases. All of this leaves people without the voice of truth

Bert & Ernie are role models for young minds. Are they gay/not gay?
I believe a part of the problem is in the perverse manner our society has advanced along sexual lines.

Recall if you will the movies of 1930's ,etc and what did you see. things like Laurel and Hardy sharing a bed...and many others . No one thought anything of it. Now we are super sensitive to and in my view oversexed literally and figuratively . The New Yorker leans elitist and liberal elitist at that and for this down to earth guy pretension goes a short way.

Well, I was not born in the time period when Laurel and Hardy were popular in movies. I do remember television of the 1950's when Lucy and Ricky had separate beds as did Ozzie and Harriet and even into the 1960's when Rob and Laura had separate beds.

I remember some episodes of Gunsmoke when Marshal Dillon and Chester had to bunk down in the same hotel bed. No way I would call Marshal Dillon gay - but who knew about Rock Hudson at the time?

As for the New Yorker magazine being "elitist", don't they have a trademark icon of a man in a top hat and a monocle (or am I thinking of Mr. Peanut)?

I do recall even in the 50's that guys bunked together at least in the movies.
Rock Hudson sexual preference was the worse kept secret along with other leading men figures

But then I could be thinking that way because I lived and live a sheltered life

I am astounded at the labeling of the New Yorker as a lame rag. It's one of the most highly regarded magazines still in existence. The cover was very subtle. Put thinking caps on and appreciate the irony. It was not meant to be taken literally.

Is it just me - am I the only person in the universe that looks at people and sees JUST PEOPLE (or in this case puppets)? I meet someone on the street and I see a person - not a black person or an oriental person. I don't look to see if they are hanging with a man or woman, if they have fancy or worn clothes or if they have hair or if its combed. Now, if I have time on my hands and put my thinking cap on, I like to "people watch" like nearly everyone else, but, what in the world do I care if Rock Hudson was gay, straight, near-sighted or wore a toupee. I saw him in movies and enjoyed them....thats all. Does EVERYBODY have to have a "label? To tell you the truth, I have been reading some of the other posts about the supreme court ruling and I could really care less about who is or might-be gay. Stay out of my bedroom and count on the fact I'll stay out of yours. Why is sexuality such an interest to people? Geez, its nice but there are 23 other hours in a day.

I would be VERY happy if all this sex stuff was out of the news entirely. No "whose
sleeping with who" or "whose gay". No risque outfits or bedroom scenes on TV. And puppet characters - give-me-a-break.
