Hey..................thanks for everyone's thoughts and concerns. Yep, storm blew through here (and points east) Friday around dinner time and really tore things up. Lots of trees down and consequently power lines go down with them - it's a very rural area. We were fortunate - no damage to the house or property, just an hour or so worth of 'Pick-Up Sticks' along the creek where the trees are and the place is looking back to normal. Much luckier than many, many other folks - houses and vehicles damaged by fallen trees, etc. I believe there was only one reported death that I heard about in the area. 82 mph wind gust reported in NW Columbus during the height of things. NASTY NASTY STORM! And another storm just went through here a couple of hours ago! We can't catch a break, it seems......
So yes, we've been without power since Friday evening.....and the land line including the DSL hit the dirt as well. Projections by the power company were that all power in our area would be restored by July 8th - no fun at all! We do have a permanently installed generator which takes care of the power necessities for the house.....except it's not large enough to handle the a/c compressor so we've been "kinda warm". What's the chance of having a lengthy power outage in the middle of run of 90+ degree days? Oh well!! ![]() Thanks again for the thoughts and concern - very much appreciated!! ![]() And just to confirm - the microwave IS hooked up to the breaker box that's powered by the generator.......you KNEW it would be! ![]() ![]() Bill ![]() |

Bill
Nothing up this way in the Akron area. Not even enough rain to wet the sidewalk at my house in Uniontown. I could hear the lightening to the south of us in the Canton area and points south but nothing here. We need a few days of slow rain as everything is burning up. Other than being hot it has not been that bad as it will be in the 90's for a couple of days and then drop to the 80's or even 70's. Along with the drop in temp comes a drop in dew point and that makes things livable. VG |

Yeah, come on, Bill ! Get some of that popcorn going !
Great to hear that you are OK. Losing power is no fun, even with a generator. We were out for 66 hours during one of the two major storms we had last year. |
