Default Car tint recommendation?

Just received our new car. Considering tint on windshield and windows. Searched here on TOTV but few recent comments. Does anyone have good experience with tinting from local shops? TIA.

I have done business with Autostyles in Leesburg, but not tinting. Personally, I would not add tinting to a new vehicle. But, if you do, make sure it is legal. In Florida, I think you are allowed more tinting on an SUV than a sedan, and there are different requirements for the front versus the rear windows.

Also, I believe it is illegal to tint the windshield. Now a word of caution, I observe cars with side windows so dark the another driver cannot see the driver in the car, THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, you have no idea if that driver has seen you and you have no idea if they are trying to communicate with you.

For sedans, these are the rules:

Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line.
Front side windows: Must allow more than 28% of light in.
Back side windows: Must allow more than 15% of light in.
Rear window: Must allow more than 15% of light in.
For SUVs and vans:

Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line.
Front side windows: Must allow more than 28% of light in.
Back side windows: Must allow more than 6% of light in.
Rear window: Must allow more than 6% of light in.

WHAT ARE THE RULES FOR WINDOW TINT REFLECTION?

For sedans:

Front side windows: Must not be more than 25% reflective.
Back side windows: Must not be more than 35% reflective.

For SUVs and vans:

Front side windows: Must not be more than 25% reflective.
Back side windows: Must not be more than 35% reflective.
WHAT ELSE YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT WINDOW TINTING IN FLORIDA

If any back windows are tinted, you’ll need dual side mirrors on your vehicle.

My advice would be to not pimp out your vehicle and keep the windows the way they are. Use the money you save and buy a good pair of sunglasses to keep in the car.

We purchased 3M tint for all of our new 2023 vehicle windows, including clear tint for the front windshield. All legal, and the GREATLY reduces heat and UV gain inside the car. We used Underglass Auto Tech in Lady Lake as they were recommended by our auto dealership. Very happy with their work and the product. Not cheap...but it keeps our car cooler inside and no UV intrusion on our bodies.

Had mine recently done at the dealer I bought it from. Yes there are legal limits for the front window. Dealer did a fantastic job on it.

Default Pricing

Depends on how many windows and level of tinting - I did top of the line - $1000.

As a Private Investigator de State Of Florida, the law allows me to have darker tint in my car. I am most have a letter authorizing such with me, indicating the authorization for that darker tint, to show law Enforcement when stopped. Fines are expensive

There’s no different requirements for different vehicles. If you go to a legit tinting place, they know the percentage of tint allowed by law. If they apply illegal tint, they chance getting fined
