I've wondered why gators that are large and end up in highly populated areas are not brought elsewhere, preferably the Everglades. I heard a gator trapper say once that alligators will return. I don't know how true this is and how far they will travel, or if people take the easy way out. Female gators especially will return to the same spot every year if they feel this is a safe place for their young.

I'm afraid you're going to have to ponder that on your own.

It was a very terrifying way for this poor lady to die, but it could have been prevented. She may well have been a winter visitor and not used to the Florida wildlife.
Didn’t some little kid get away from an alligator a couple of years ago by punching it in the nose?

A stupid, insensitive solution. You...get rid of your crying baby. Put them up for adoption. You have never had a dog to love...obviously.

She was a well loved resident of the community. The gator was a local one named Henry by residents. I wonder if people had been feeding him?

Wow! Thank you for posting this. It could have happened to anyone here in TV, with all our ponds and lakes!

A few years ago my daughter and I took a boat trip in Ocala with Captain Peggy. She always carried a gun with her, as she navigated the alligator infested waters. She even made us swim in the water off the boat! I asked her if she ever needed to use her fire arm. She said once, she had to draw on some teens who threatened her clients, but never on the alligators themselves. We didn’t know how close the alligators were to us until we looked at the photos we took. Captain Peggy was a ONE time event.

Saw approximately a 12 footer on the edge of the pond next to the 7th green at Mangrove this afternoon, about the biggest I have ever seen. Ninety degrees outside, spring gator mating season is arriving so the sightings will become frequent.
