I wonder how much it costs to send your child to Phillips Exeter?
Phillips Exeter Academy | Exeter Exeter was the number one private school in the country. Staff members accused of sex abuse over decades. In today's news.

Pedophiles tend to gravitate toward jobs where they hold a power position over young people.

It is no secret that pedophiles hideout where children are and available. The schools are just another place along with churches. The teacher has power and the priest has power. Thus the pedophiles in these occupations are the lowest of human beings. When they violate a child it will be with him or her for life and the harm does not stop there but goes on to future generations. They should be locked up and never allowed to walk free again. They have to be sociopaths since you cannot have a conscience and hurt a child

I wonder how many schools vis-a-vis how many churches allowed this to happen, on a percentage basis. And if there's any truth to the theory that abuse was prevalent in English boarding schools. Clearly there are many places where children's safety is put on the back burner.
It used to be children had no voice--they were to be seen and not heard. I hope that is changing for good.

I met quite a few people who told me that if the teacher hit them and their parents found out they would get it twice as bad as home. What message does that send?

We mostly all tried to instill in our children, respect for their teachers. Many people made it clear to their children that even if they disagreed with the teaching staff, they were in charge. This included many parents who did not hit their kids. I can't recall anyone ever getting hit in school in the 12 years of public schools I attended. There were more than 350 in my high school graduating class.

I received a reply from the principal that in all his years I was the first parent ever to respond to the corporal punishment directives and that he totally agreed with me and had never allowed any corporal punishment in his school. Great principal and great principle.

I attended a Catholic school and one of our teachers had a long thin whippy type thingee and if you misbehaved she would bring it down on your knuckles and it HURT. I got it one time and when I got home I was asked what I had done to deserve it!!! Yes, children in those days were seen and not heard.
