Haven't heard much from the usual band of climate change deniers this week?

Okay, I'll bite.

So there was a hurricane, in hurricane plagued Florida, during hurricane season. This has been happening for centuries. What does climate change have to do with it?

Hurricanes are not new.

Here is a story from almost 500 years ago. Hurricanes have been around much longer than 1528, but it becomes more difficult to find written history about them.

1528: Spanish explorer Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca was part of an expedition that was caught in a hurricane while attempting to sail across the Gulf of Mexico to New Spain. Three of the boats were lost, and the other two washed up on Galveston Island, Texas.

Sounds like a pretty powerful storm to me. These of course being very seaworthy boats that had already crossed the Atlantic.

Yeah, Global Warming was just sooooo passé and debunked ... let's dream up a new "cause célèbre".

The scientific/historic evidence for so-called global warming and climate change to be an issue is so ludicrous, it's laughable.

How this.

The earth warming, been warming for last 10,000 years. The earth was lot warmer in pass. All things we done so far has little or no impact. ( sure some environmental waste clean up has improved that area, but has no impact overall). What might impact the destruction of earth remove about 7. 5 billion humans. But, nobody wants to volunteer or change their greedy habit’s and stop breading like rats. You can bet taxing us and not rest of world not going to do anything except may few greedy humans richer.

"Deniers?" I believe in climate change. I just don't believe in man being able to manipulate the climate. If so, then why doesn't someone control the hurricanes and keep them out to sea or confine them to desert regions? Does that make me a "denier?" On the other hand, man(and women) do lend a hand in air pollution.

Yes, we are in an inter-glacial period. We will continue to experience some natural warming. However, the anthropogenic component is about 1C for the global mean surface temperature anomaly. Many people fail to understand the time scale implications of what is going on. We are not dealing with Milankovitch cycle time scales ( 20K, 40K, and 100K year time scales), we are dealing with a 200 year time scale. We know this to a high certainty because the theory matches the observed data: lower tropospheric warming and stratospheric cooling. By the end of the century, this number might be 2-3C; that will have a profound impact. What can we do about it ? Pretty much nothing, at least for the US. Our contribution to global CO2 increases is about 15%. China and India are the long poles in the tent. Remediation of our coastal areas is where we should be spending money.

Man does not change climate...Climate changes man.
I know the usual band of Dunning-Kruger TeeVee-watching death cultists will disagree.
