Interesting article and kind of what I expected.
I used to drink diet coke and stopped drinking it.
Now drink water, seltzer or iced green tea.
If I drink diet coke I noticed it makes me cough.

They even have names and studies of it. All VALID studies people are not told if they receive the real drug or simply a placebo-nothing of value, sugar pill etc. I surprising number of people claim positive results from nothing.

I find more and more everything I eat causes me to look older.

Worry does raise your cholesterol. Wife worries about everything. I deal with what is, not what might be or could be. We eat the same food, actually I eat far more fat and cheese yet, my cholesterol is far better. Point worrying about this and other xxxxxx is killing people.

We purchased a soda stream a few years ago, and a 20lb CO2 bottle for it. We haven’t purchased a soda since (except the occasional to go on the road).

We make our own sparkling water, ginger ale using ginger and stevia, and a form of cream soda. With the ingredients the cost comes out around $0.50 per 2 liters. And it is nice to know what is in it.

Ah, diet coke. That old sneaky calorie adder. Funny how the news came out about 5 years ago that drinking diet soda is just as bad as with sugar. The body doesn't know the difference, detects the sweet and adds 'em on. My dad still drinks it and he's pretty healthy for his age. But I don't feel like telling him "You know that Diet Dr. Pepper..." because he hardly drinks it. I've never had soda in my house. Just go with water. Diet soda is nasty though, the 1 time I've tried each different flavor. That aftertaste... on all of them.

I drink too much diet soda. What really gets me is the people who smoke and lecture me about soda. I know it’s bad but it’s my only vise

Same here except it was diet Pepsi and one time more potent beverages too. I don't touch any soda diet, it's water or cold iced tea.

After major surgery, met with a certified nutritionist and she recommended Diet Rite and only Diet Rite if you want a soda. Eating and drinking she said “always in moderation.”

For most drinking and eating item for 50 plus years, that now show studies that harm you, just seems like a noteworthy item.
While stopping at mid seventies and above, May somewhat improve your well being, but will not reverse 60 plus years of additives and preservatives.

Studies will benefit the younger gens, if they choose. But if your upbringing has always included processed food and drink, change in generations is a slow process

I make a pitcher of lemon water every day. Yummiest way to have lots of water for me. If I need a kick, some tea works.

The new findings are that it is not fat and cheese that raise cholesterol but it is sugar and the sugar formed from eating breads and pastas. Stay away from the carbs and your bad cholesterol will go down, not the good fats that we need. Eat real butter not margarine and eat full fat products. Foods labeled low fat add in sugar to replace the flavor. New studies are showing how wrong the old way of thinking was. I have read up extensively
