You can buy the French press at TJMaxx or Marshalls for $10 and makes the best coffee for 1 or 2 cups. I would suggest to use the brown filters when you pour into a cup.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I really do not drink much coffee and if I do, it MUST be decaf....already two strikes against me from real coffee drinkers....LOLOL. My 12 cup Mr. Coffee does a great job if you want a pot of coffee, but it isn't so good for a smaller number of cups. I have a couple of months before sis arrives. Will most likely wait to see what single serve maker goes on sale and try to decide at that time.
