Yesterday was the worst day with an estimated fix by 10:40 PM......maybe!!!!!!! Seems to be working this morning.....for now.

Fast approaching cutting the cord time as soon as a suitable alternative is found.

I know our neighborhood is affected....anybody else having current service interruptions?
Mine went out a bit after 4 pm. When I returned home at 9 it was back on. I was with friends, and they had no internet either. One said it was The Villages-wide, and the other said it was state wide or bigger. We wondered if it was due to a Denial of Services hacking attack from Russia. A large-scale outage when there isn’t a storm is unusual.

Comcast is an internet service provider (ISP)
If you cut the cord, you will still need a n ISP to stream
unless you switch to local tv only.

I have reviewed the other threads on cutting the cord. The lack of recording and centralized access(es) are my current constraints. As the cable bill continues to go higher eventually any inconvenience will go by the wayside.
YouTube TV has the best recording capability we’ve ever had. I’m not sure what you mean by centralized access, but I’m able to access YouTube TV anywhere I have internet access, plus we have local channels.

TV doesn't have Spectrum? Coulda' fooled me...

With the hundreds of pieces of construction equipment evident in Gold Wingnut’s drone videos, it isn’t surprising that cable and utility lines aren’t damaged more often.

Since the changeover to the new modem at an additional cost of $14 per month, I don't remember any blip. Our service had been uninterrupted on 5 televisions that all stream, 1 desktop, 2 iPads, 3 iPhones, and very little gaming. When the grandchildren and our kids are here even with 4 additional iPhones and iPads still the service has been flawless. We have a lower-end package that is around $50 a month plus the $14 for the Modem.

When we got the New Modem we were supposed to get three Booster Pods but the technology changed and we ended up getting one Hugh Booster. Between that maneuver and placing the old Boosters at various locations, we are now totally covered. The Camera in the garage and Lanai work flawlessly. I'm loving it. Can't believe I have anything good to say about anything to do with Xfinity. I swore them off years ago. For the moment I'm happy to have them back, I'm grateful to have them.

Hope this helps you!
The Xfinity modem is no better than Motorola, Arris, or any other brand. Xfinity modems are built by the same folks that sell the 3rd party modems. Depending on when you get one, it might have been built by Motorola, Arris, or any of another dozen companies.

The outage yesterday was caused by a fiber cut and impacted most of central/southern Florida. It didn't matter what modem you had, you were going to be out.

At $14/month, you can pay for a new modem within 3-4 months (6-8 if you go high end). Just make sure it's the latest DOCSIS supported by Xfinity (I think it's still at 3.0), and look at the Channel Bonding. The more channels available, the more speed supported by the modem. It's usually stated as 16x4, 32x8, etc. The first number is downstream (download) channels, and the 2nd is upstream channels. The newest modems generally support 32x8. If you're not paying for 1GB internet, you don't need the 32x8, but it doesn't hurt.

Yes! Kept losing internet right before an NBA playoff game I wanted to watch. Fortunately it sorted itself out before tip off! We cut the xfinityTV cord but still dependent on internet…

Yes, we lost service at about 3 PM but our service was restored about 8:15 PM. Were they hacked?

Seems like areas in TV determines whether one can get Spectrum or not. I am right above 466 and cannot get it. Below 466 they can get Spectrum; or some such boundaries. Bummer.

Verizon also has wireless internet service in the Villages, if you want an alternative.
