Before I paste a link I always paste it into a new tab in my browser to make sure it works.

that's good advice---i tried deleting all that one line at a time and was getting nowhere---so i copied the paragraph, did ctrl a, backspace, ctrl v---and moved on

I mention this because a couple of old school shortcuts work on the chromebook too and are worth learning.

Edit an unwanted post and just "Select all" of the content. Then delete. Should take care of such unfortunate accidents.
