Good question. I know there is a Sam's place near by. We took a ride to Costo's in Altamonte. It is a good hour drive but we have been an avid fan of Costco's for almost 20 years. They are the only one's who sell the drinking water that we have been consuming for about 3 years. We buy most of our major purchases there. They have the best return policy in the business.

BJs
There is a BJs in Clermont on Hwy27. That is about 30 to 35 miles south of TV. I really miss Costco.

Well, there is one in Orlando. You could always include it into a shopping excursion that includes the two malls.

We were in Sam's Club earlier this week, and brought home their pkg of 48 rolls of toilet tissue, paper towels, napkins, bar soap, laundry detergent, etc. I'm sure there's a savings here, but I'm seriously questioning why anyone really needs to have this kind of inventory for 6-9 months. We used Costco up North but the family was bigger then and stuff wouldn't last as long. Even meat and prepared foods are more than a family of 2-3 needs, and you wind up saving (freezing) half. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't yet agree that savings for us (from Sams\Costco) is illusory.

to find stores and locations...I always use my "friend" google! I agree re: the large quantities...but we have a small freezer here so it's good to stock with meat etc. I don't jam it like I used to otherwise there's waste to that too. BUT we use Sam's for alot of things like gasoline (cheaper generally than other spots), food items we use alot of. Haven't gone the paper-goods route yet as storage would be the issue. Costco might be fun to have AND I love Trader Joes (though it's not a Big Box type store)

Sam's Club
We have a Sam's membership - here's what I like to buy there and not buy (although I have only been to the Villages location a couple of times so far, so not sure if all of these things are available or good buys in TV compared to Columbus, OH):
Likes: fresh blueberries (large package but keeps really well, and we eat them on cereal and crush them in lite pancake syrup for French toast) Tires, car battery when needed Frozen Angus burgers - can take right out of freezer to grill Steaks (usually 5 NY Strip steaks to a package, eat a couple, freeze the rest) Sometimes prepackaged ham/turkey - lasts pretty long in fridge. Frozen meatballs (use however many needed - I just add canned spaghetti sauce and heat) Cheese of all types - good selection and prices, I think. Vitamins/supplements Joint Juice (buy by the case, have instead of OJ most mornings). It's in the pharmacy section in Ohio, not sure about TV but found it there also. Gas Don't like to buy: Pop (Soda to those of you outside OH, IN and maybe western PA), toilet paper or paper towels. I think you get better buys watching the specials at the grocery stores for this stuff. I have found groceries and fresh fruit and vegetables (this seems weird to me) to be quite a bit more expensive in Florida than in Ohio. I also shop at Aldi's in Ohio and will in TV also, along with probably Publix, Sweetbay and maybe Winn Dixie (all easily golf cart accessible for me). |

Forgot to add (to the likes at Sam's): dog food (50# bag) and laundry detergent. But I have to figure out where I can store a 50# bag of dog food in TV.

Someone on another thread mentioned having emailed Costco to suggest a TV location. Since a new shopping center is in the works, that seems like a good idea. Anyone care to join me in going to Costco's website and telling them we'd love to see a Costco in the new TV shopping center?
