I actually meant "without all the direct-hit possibilities". And the term "possibilities" leaves room for a lot, or none, or a few.

I agree that it is really just a matter of preferences and priorities. DWPV really appeals to me in many ways.
Good.

We are filling up fast here and thousands and thousands of Boomers on the way. I am glad there are other choices.

Most folks who already live here...I'm saying "most"...probably won't have their minds changed! Again you can't compare many of these places to T.V.! We have a "life-style" which is why we live here!

Why does a post with someone mentioning another option to The Villages turn into a
pi_ _ ing contest. It's not a threat to our lifestyle, but someone pointing out some options that some are interested in and most are not. Just let it be what it is for heaven's sake!

Goodness knows that there are countless retirement community possibilities in FL, let alone throughout the country, besides The Villages and Del Webb Ponte Vedra. Since you've chosen the latter as your community and say that it "really appeals to [you] in many ways," I am curious about the amount of time you must be spending focusing on The Villages as evidenced by your nearly 1,100 posts on this forum (TOTV). Could you explain this, please? Thank you.

1. I've researched both places; started research with TOTV in January 2011. Have learned a lot and enjoy the dialogues. Have met some of the people. Started research on DWPV in 2013. It appeals to me in many ways. I didn't say I had decided.
2. I will be working full time for another couple of years. Plan to keep researching, including keeping an eye on the growth of special interest retirement places. Give me a village full of retired singers and musicians, and I'm there.
There have been many posts asking about research on communities that people have done. You're welcome.

I didn't see it as that. Many of us love it here. We have voted with our wallets as well as our hearts. It is loyalty to our home place. I felt the same about our homes in Ohio.

It is just how people are. Most of us haven't moved around a LOT.

They cheer for their teams and identify with their town.

I meant it sincerely when I said that Boomers are gonna fill up TV one of these days and there will be other fast growing areas for retirement.

Glad we got here in time. Hope that all the rest find places they love too.

P.S. Quirky. I just looked at this home. The soaring ceilings and the pool and other architectural elements were awesome. No wonder you like it.

Gracie - read Twinklesweep's post just above yours. There are some that just have to challenge why someone would mention on this forum other options than The Villages. I appreciate the information - others are doing the hard work and I have the benefit of their research. Just a thought.

I hope you are right and I am wrong 'cause the Debbie Downers are just plain beating me down lately.

Please re-read my question, gomoho. I believe I asked for an explanation as to why someone who expresses a preference for living in one community (which made it sound as though she lives there, although her subsequent post clarified that she does not) would spend what I would call an inordinate amount of time (with nearly 1,100 posts) on a different community. I not only did NOT focus on The Villages (and yes, I do live here) but rather made reference to "countless retirement community possibilities in FL, let alone throughout the country." If you see this as a "challenge," then perhaps I, who would be more inclined to devote my time and energies to where I live, was not clear in asking what I thought was a simple question. Sorry....

Yep. And the Harry Haters are biting at me too. I understand. Some people use anonymity as a weapon.

A few of the most prolific posters on TOTV do not live in The Villages. It's nice to hear about other Florida communties that others have researched. After all, 19.22 million Floridians choose other lifestyles.

That was not my intent.
Having been on a lifestyle visit I thought I would post our experience.
It doesn't mean we didn't like it, just the REALITY of it.
