What sort of jalopy? Surely not a Porsche per avatar? Hope the jalopy has a strong frame and good brakes/suspension. Might be a little hairy otherwise. I'd like a late model hp drivetrain in my old car.

My Panamera has a 400 HP V8, doubt a hellcrate would fit and wouldn't do it anyway. Car drives like a dream already.

My buddy wants to sell me his 1923 Ford model T hot rod, it's already been retrofitted with chevy 327, new frame, brakes suspension etc.

When gas gets to .50 cents per gallon, I'm buying a tanker truck and fill it up. You can bet your bottom dollar gas prices WILL go back up.

Gas will get so cheap people will finally realize the "tax component" $/gallon ie. Tax amount will exceed gas price per gallon!

Been there done that (not with a Hellcat), I put a '92 302 roller (350 HP) in place of the original 289 in my '66 Mustang. i was told this would be a good fit.....I have 1/8 inch to the frame on one side and 1/4 inch on the other side. My point this is not as simple as some people say. Also, the nice new EFI, turbocharged engine MAY need some electronics not in your existing car. This is where I made a mistake, I went with a carburated engine instead of the EFI as I did not know what I was going to get into with the ECU.
Also, I added sub frame connectors (Mustang was unibody construction) and welded these in place, added touque boxes, monticarlo brace, etc., since I not had almost twice the normal horse power. Brakes were converted from front disc rear drum to 4 wheel disc, and the differential was upgraded to limited slip.

Good luck with your project.

There is an optional kit for the hellcrate motor to install in pre 1976 cars. If I did it I wouldn't do the install myself anyway, I have zero mechanical skills.

Here's the 23 Model T my friend wants to sell me.

Default Time to Buy

In a few years, people will look back and realize this is the chance of a lifetime to buy stock in the major oil companies with strong Balance Sheets. The near term will be painful. Just my opinion, not financial advice!
I'm also impressed by all of the true car lovers here! Some cars are appliances, but others truly have a soul and personality!!

don't forget to put some stabilizer in it, as it might be awhile before the demand goes up and you can turn a profit

I'm pretty much getting 2, sometimes 3 weeks to a gallon right now

Default Too much power

A 23 T is way too short with a very high center of gravity. The 327 is already too much power for that architecture.

Just test drive it and try to go to wide open throttle from a dead stop and you’ll see what I mean.

That 1000 HP beast needs a well designed and built chassis and a little more weight wrapped around it with a roll cage.

But it is your decision to make. I only provide my opinion here as I made my living in the racing and hi performance industry for 32 years and have built and raced several vehicles over the years.

Good luck with it either way.

Maybe you missed the photo I posted above of the Model T. The only thing left is the body, rest of the car is modernized. Wheelbase stretched, much lower COG, all new frame etc. If I buy I won't be putting hellcrate in it, it would cost more than the car.
