Faith can be a good thing, the problem comes when confused individuals begin to pick and chose what they believe. Answered Prayers ~ The Worlds Most Prolific Serial Killers are Devout Christians ~ Coincidence, or Men of Perfect Faith? - by King Dave - Newsvine Misinterpretation of scripture has taken the life of billions.

A miracle is in the eye of the beholder. I enjoy a sense of wonder at the natural world. It is as much a miracle babies are created as is supernatural intervention. Some don't see God in either, I see God in both.

I am replying to Golfinnut, because I know he is sure I am his friend, but really to all in general. My credentials are that I am a wife, a mother, a sister and a friend.

People need to believe in God at some times of their lives. The people that I know who are devout are kind people; considerate of others, reasonable in their life style, moderate in their habits. They have a sense of humor and an appreciation of good times.

If any of you are atheists, fine. THAT is your belief. Please on this forum do NOT put down people or religions that are full of peace and kindness.

They are causing no harm to you. How you believe, just as how you eat, and what you do to others and how you do it is your choice. Most religions come with a set of laws and those laws come with conscience formation and that keeps society to SOME degree (certainly lessening in this day and age) from taking things belonging to others and killing each other.

I think that there is no reason to attack or undermine on this forum another's religious views or lack of them. It is just TOO upsetting for most of us and if you seek those kinds of friends, you won't find many on here.

I am thankful for our diversity. I am pretty sure there is a loving God. I see people here who enjoy their communities of faith. Leave it be. Please.

I hope you understand that I am not about disrespecting any religion, I AM POINTING OUT that there are too many that claim to be one with their god yet discriminate against many social issues and groups of people. To me, that is hypocritical not spiritual. To misinterpret a scripture as a means to justify their personal prejudices is of the Devil and not GOD.

Give me a kind atheist and send away a prejudice minister.

Golfingnut, you've determined all of the mentally ill people in the world are Christians or is it that SOME of the mentally ill people in the world are Christians and have performed heinous acts? Are you aware there are mentally ill atheists that have also performed heinous acts?

Faith IS a good thing. When people pick and chose what to believe, they are not following the precepts of our loving God. Most of us Christians will admit we are not perfect and struggle sometimes to live our lives according to the precepts of the bible. But He is a kind and loving God and, hopefully, the forgiveness He extends to all of us is a forgiveness we can extend to others.

Gracie, you put the whole thing in a nutshell beautifully.

seems like a lot of keystokes to make a case for the exceptions in any given group.

Every group or population has them and unfortunately too much of our society is bent toward making any and all minority (not race) issues sound as though they are a general condition when they are not.

Remember the old logical sylligisms?

There are 20 boys in the room.
Johnny is a boy in the room.
Johnny has a hat on.
Therefore all the boys in the room have hats on..........not true!!!!!

We seem to spend so much energy talking about the one boy with a hat on! Or worse, these days why every boy should have a hat on because it is disturbing to Johnny that the others do not have one!!

Johnny has every right to be the only boy with a hat. I have issue with the pointing out his difference. I have respect for all even if they don't fit the good ole average mold. This world has room for us all. I admire gods wisdom to make us all different.

"I have issue with the pointing out his difference."

I agree whole heartedly and present that this is exactly the root cause of many issues and discussions that go sideways or get testy or blown out of proportion. I do not support penalizing those who do not subscribe, to those who promote or exploit a difference.....for example don't do or say or present or exhibit something just because one person "points out a difference" that it offends them.

Add to the above potential politics or getting re-elected or losing ones job because......and all of a sudden the one with a difference is significantly amplified.

Oh, for an iota of multi-value logic. However, this Thread is getting a bit off the subject. Anybody who doesn't think a new baby isn't a miracle just......well, I'm shocked.

If you wake up on 25 Dec and find a wiggling package under the tree, open it and a baby jumps out and hugs you and says I love you mommy, that is a miracle. If you lay in a hospital bed for 13 hours in constant pain during child birth that is nature and not a miracle. It might look like a miracle to the father, but ???? The mother.
