Default employment opportunities ? ?

Well, it looks like I have sold The Villages on my friend and neighbor. After viewing the video he is now considering a move to TV. In fact, he may get there sooner than me!! What's up with that!

Anyway, he has no computer and has requested that I ask TOTV if there are ample part-time employment opportunities nearby. He spent years as a railroad worker and has no intention of getting back into that type of work but would be interested in working at Publix, Winn-Dixie, or other retail type jobs at an entry level position so long as it is part-time only. He states that pay grade is much less important than getting out of the house and staying busy. The hours of employment are not even a concern, morning, evening, overnights...all the same to him --- so he claims. ;D

I will show him any replies that are generated and it will give him something to think about. Thank you.

It is not to stay busy, IT IS TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE, and the wife.
I once has an employee who offered to work for nothing for the same reason. I ended up paying him more than the minimum because he was good.

I think you're onto something here efrahin. If you knew his wife, opps... I hope she's not reading this. I know that he is 62 and receiving SS benefits and doesn't want to earn too much that he ends up being penalized. I suggested to him that when he and his lovely wife visit TV that he go into a few retail/supermarket stores and inquire of them.

You know, whartonjelly, I'm not quite sure what the name of the RR he worked for. I think it was the commuter line in NY/NJ.

tk -- there's always lots of part-time jobs. Since he doesn't care about the money, etc., he should have no problem. Better yet, there are so many ways he could volunteer -- he'd get out of the house, have lots to do, help others and not take a job from someone who might truly need it.

You have a point there redwitch. It is funny, though, that I have two different neighbors asking a lot of questions about TV since I mentioned I was relocating there.

Gee.... tkret..... if Eileen and your other neighbor both buy in TV, along with you, I think they (TV) owes you a commission (or discount) at least :

You're not kidding ConeyIsBabe. But, to be honest, I think it's all talk; maybe not for Eileen, though; but I think so for the other. Speaking of Eileen, I think I'll see if she has arrived home from her visit and I'll have her check out all the responses to her inquiry.

Made an offer yesterday but haven't heard anything as of 11am today. The offer is good until about 1pm. If not now, then soon after.

I just wanted to get this to the top in case somebody else could add something with current information on employment.

I should have typed "bump," of some such to get it to the top again.
