Default local milk??

Does anyone know what brand names indicate milk produced locally (central Florida)? The cows around The Villages look so contented and happy that I think their milk must taste better.

....I hate to be the bearer of bad news......
........the cows you see around The Villages are NOT Dairy Cows.
They are Beef Cows....for Savory Steaks, Roasts and Burgers.

They LOOK contented because they are GRASS-fed.
Their runinent digestive system was designed to eat grass.

The milk producing DAIRY farms are way down South in Okeechobee County and up North of here, NW of Gainesville in Levy,Gilcrist and Hardy Counties.
The LAST Dairy farm left in Volusia County is owned by Gerald Fieser, which is 70 miles East of here.

Thanks for clarifying. I know what we see here are beef cows, but someone had told me there are dairy farms nearby. Can't believe everything you hear!

Default Local Milk

I am sure that there are sources for local milk...afterall there are cows all over the place in Sumter. Not sure which ones are beef or milk though! Maybe most are beef cattle. Anyone notice the difference in taste between grass fed and corn fed cattle?

There had been a dairy farm on Rt 466 west of 301. I went by the other day and it now looks shuttered.

Grass fed beef is leaner and a little tougher.

FYI - those cows are trained to smile by TV. If you start a conversation with one it will reply, "It's a beautiful day in The Villages."

Here's some info on a milk coop in Marion County:

Premier Milk Incorporated - Where Premium Quality Comes Standard

Maybe they would tell you where their milk is sold.
