Yes...but there are lots of younger people in Florida that take offense at that.....and not a good thing to say when the states relies on tourism for much of its coffers.

The phrase has been used in the past, since *I* was a kid and my grandmother lived in Century Village. Locals (people who actually were born and raised in Florida) considered Florida the place where old people go to die.

I grew up in St. Petersburg, I remember Johnny Carson made a joke about St. Pete one time in his monologue. He called St. Petersburg 'Gods Waiting Room' on national TV. At the time I was in my 20's and thought it was accurate. St. Pete was even known for it's green benches along the streets of downtown, usually full of seniors. Now the city has removed most of them to change their image to a young city on the move.
