I would have reached in beside her, grabbed one and moved on. Washed it when I got home. I get it about waiting while she was handling but don’t get wanting to threaten her.

IMHO, picking out fresh veggies involves touching them. No big deal. Some people are very picky and take their sweetass time and it irritates me. But that's how things are. But there is NO "NEW NORMAL". It's just the "NEW ABNORMAL" and it is practiced by the lemmings.
Just be thankful that you're not in a prison or nursing home.

Every option turns into such a rabbit hole! I wear gloves solely as a layer of protection for myself as I select and touch items. I dispose of them in the trash cans by the doors as soon as I leave the store, then sanitize my hands before touching my car to drive home.

This is more manageable for us because we've switched primarily to grocery delivery and I only go to Publix maybe once a month for a few items.

this evening I'm waiting in produce to buy some zucchini watching this lady take her time as she handles every single damn zuke in the bin....after a while I finally said..."we're not suppose to be handling all of the veggies and fruit, you don't have gloves on, please take what you want and move one."....she turned to me and said "six feet please...and stop whining"....I replied "grow up and get with the new normal" ...

what the heck is it with people that still think that it's okay handle every single piece of fruit or veggie or package of meat, and put it back and do the same thing with another until their inner voice tells them that this is the one... like they did in the pre-covid-19 days and for some reason they think that that's okay in today's world?

okay...take your best shots...and tell me how I infringed upon this sweet woman's shopping experience and how I aborted her freedom of choice...so that I can learn from this experience
I am so sorry I didn't "get" your humor. YOU are a good person who was misunderstood by me. I don't know how I feel about seeing people touching the zucchini. I know that someone had to touch the zucchini at some point in order for them to get all pretty on the display. I know they didn't teleport. I can't believe I am having this conversation because I have never been a germaphobe. You would not have ever seen me wiping down a shopping cart prior to this mess. But now I worry that someone will handle the strawberries and I will eat them and feed them to Helene and Henry and they might die. It is indeed a sad state of affairs we are all in. Again Dave. I just didn't get your humor. I am sorry I misjudged you.

Just more whining and complaining. There certainly are more important things then how a women picks her zucchini’s. None of you have any right to tell anyone what to do.

You did exactly the right thing. She's probably one of the many TV people who have pretty much ignored the mandates that were put into place by the Governor.

Since this started, I have figured that the chance of my catching the virus from exposure to people, in the supermarket, is slight. The real risk is in picking up something that they touched, coughed on, sneezed on, etc. I always try to pick something from the back of the display.
Also, I always wash my hands after removing the newspaper from the plastic bag. I figure the paper was only handled by a machine, but the bag was touched by several humans.

LOVE THAT COMMENT BUT WAS AFRAID TO SAY IT
In my opinion, we do have a lot of people that use old age as an excuse to be rude.
1. No, you cannot sit at a traffic light for 15 seconds after it changes to green
2. No, you can't be rude to others
3. No, you can't have the salad for free when it says $3.95 extra with a meal
4. No, you can't have your other diners get a salad for you. You didn't pay for it
5. No, you can't stay in the "passing" lane and drive 30 MPH
6. No, rolling stops (or no stop) are not allowed at stop signs
7. No, you can't drink excessively and drive. (we've been hit three times already)
8. No, you can't tell a police officer you've been driving before he was even born after you get stopped for speeding
9. No, you can't order more dinner rolls and stuff them all in your pocket or purse
10. No, you can't buy folding tables and chairs, use them for your party, then return them

As you can see, I love talking to others and sharing what goes on in the Villages
Do we have a lot of great people, WE SURE DO.
