I would recommend just picking an installer that will install Chamberlain, Liftmaster, or any door compatible with MyQ. That will mean you can use an app to open and close your door. You will have history of it. In addition, you can use Amazon Key Delivery for secure delivery of your orders.

An alternative would be to use Aladdin connect or some other app. This may require mounting something on the door itself to detect whether it is open or closed. I use that now, because the original door was not Chamberlain compatible. When Chamberlain upgraded MyQ, they disabled MyQ, for the device that I mounted on the door. Avoid needing the extra detector to keep it simple.

If you don't want to use Amazon Key Delivery now, at least you, will have the choice in the future. You can also enable others to enter your garage with individual codes if you want to. So you can know who had access and when.

Yes i did. Never been happier replacing that hunk of junk Allstar MPV with quiet reliable Liftmaster.

I did and the install was awful. I ended up paying more then if I just had a reputable garage door company install a new opener.

I just installed a Wall Mount Garage door opener. The Opener itself it more expensive $509, but it mounts to the spring Bar. No rails up the center of your garage. It's very quiet. I can't comment on install cost, I installed myself. It's fairly easy to do.

I had a Craftsman from Lowe’s and had it installed. Very pleased . They used ASAP garage door company. I’m sure HD has a similar relationship with local contractors. Ask.

So, some posters may have had a good experience, but there is no guarantee that whoever installed their opener will be the same company who will install your opener. I will not be hiring Home Depot because I just don't like their concept. I intend to get a quote from Scott Cowan, 352-697-0321, who gave me a quote of about $350, but that was a few years ago. Good luck.

I bought two smart chamberlin openers from Home Depot in Wildwood. They had a company(DIAMOND, FROM NEAR ORLANDO) come out and install them at $150.00 each which I paid H.D. at the time of purchase.

GRTEAT OPENER AND GREAT WORK!

Has anyone had the weatherstripping, sides and top, and the rubber seal at the bottom replaced as part of the opener installation, and how much did it cost?

Yes, very happy. Showed up right on time, took about 45 minutes to remove the old one and install the new one. He even fortified the attachment brackets so the door wouldn't shudder as it operated. Made sure all the openers were programmed correctly. Excellent work.

Why not use Romac?? They are local and take care of all The Villages. They redid mine for a total of $560. Out the door. Do not us ASAP Garage Door, they suck and are TOO expensive.

Now I am intrigued. I had never heard of this. So you don't have a track running along your ceiling? How durable do you think these are?

Shoulder Tendonitis prevents a DIY.

I find it difficult to believe that Clopay is paying people to travel from Tampa to install garage door openers. Looking at their website, it appears that their main business is garage doors, not openers.
Then call Scotts and have him do it.

Default Garage door install

This a little off topic but I purchased two belt drive Genies with WiFi from Lowe’s when it was on sale this spring. Install was done through Angie’s by a contractor they use. Got an opener and installed for $328.00 per door. Installer was excellent.

The side strips are just nailed in, caulked and painted to match, and available at Lowes and I am sure others. The trick with the rubber seal is to remove the screws at the ends. I have found these are typically a 2 person project. After the old strip is removed, spray soapy water into the aluminum channel, then have one person keep the new strip aligned while the other pulls the strip into place.
