Default HOUSE CIRCUIT BREAKERS

IM LOOKING FOR SOME INPUT IN REGARD TO WHOLE HOUSE CIRCUIT BREAKERS. HOW WISE IS IT TO GET ONE INSTALLED. DO MANY OF YOU HAVE ONE? PLEASE GIVE ME SOME INPUT IN REGARD TO THIS MATTER. THANKS FOR YOU HELP. TIGER

Tiger,

We had one installed by Ace Electrical...one time $200 cost (post hurricane seminar special price, they said). Provides some peace of mind and protection and seemed more practical and less costly than installing a lightning protection system.

SECO will install a similar unit but you pay $5-$7 (??) per month for it on your electric bill.

Although we're not in TV yet we had it installed when out total electric house was built in 2000. It's installed behind the base of the electric meter and the cost then was $196 or a monthly rental fee. We bought them instead. Check with the electric company what they do & do not cover. :bigthumbsup: in my book.

Are you talking about a whole house circuit breaker or a surge protector. Are they the same thing or different?
