Yep - Juz like Joe Montana did (but then again, didn't Joe leave SF to play in KC for his last two years)

I think he is being very selfish. If he wanted to continue to play, why retire? Green Bay's coaching staff have planned a whole new team around a new quarterback. Then a couple weeks before spring training starts, Farve starts this crap. Bottom line, he has been a good quarterback, but lacks in the character department. Joe Montana did not retire. SF just traded him. He maintained a great relationship with SF. Farve will not be fondly remembered by GB or their fans.

ssw, I think Green Bay fans will always adore Favre, he won a super bowl.
This last stuff is just the "news of the day" and will blow over quick. My thoughts.

I agree John regarding the love of the packers fans.

I do think that Bret holds no value for me. His stats over the past 6-7 years are really not very good. His QB rating is in the lower half of all starting QB's over that time frame. No super bowl appearances since last century either. He simply has not been a winning QB (other than their run last year which got derailed by a very ill advised pass and interception in the 4th quarter of the Giants game - that might be the worst pass given the situation I've seen a QB make in 10 years!).

He IS a hall of fame QB but his time has come and gone. If I'm a team in need of a QB I would never consider Bret unless it was to come in and mentor a young QB with the understanding that it is one year and out.

Disagree about Packers fans. If he continues to disrupt the Packers, the Packers fans will not be happy and could very well turn on him. Remember, he is being very selfish and not putting what is best for the Packers first. He is putting himself first and Packers fans will not forget.

I just returned from a visit in WIS.

If you think ESPN has overdone this, the local channels in Milwaukee lead every hours newbreak with it.

One close friend of mine that is a season ticket holder for many years is 100% for Farve.
He thinks the Packers should take him back with open arms and let him start. You can see many others with the same feelings when the local channels interview people around events in the state.
Of course we know this morning that it isn't going to happen.

Others in our circle of 8 friends are mostly of the opinion that he should just go away.
I think the MEDIA is purposely looking for the controversy.
I think the general concensus is more like my circle of 8 friends in that it is about 8 to 1 against Farve's actions.

Yes he was a great asset to the Packers and gave them a great run but his time has ended.

As they say, 'the king is dead, long live the king'.

I must agree with you. I'm tired of him beating up on the Bears
