Had an Audi in the 70's with a speedometer that the needle fell off.

(Also, if the temp was over 80 and you were making a left hand turn the horn would sound)

Had a Chevy in the 70s that the radio would not play when it was dark.
Because the headlights were on.

Tachometer hands down. Especially on an automatic.
Does anyone really look at that gauge?

Just to see if the engine is idling properly. A change could indicate a probable malfunction of some sort.
