Info for renters
There is a lot of great info in the 'moving to villages' threads and some of it applicable to renters but does anyone know if there is something specific for renters e.g.
-getting an ammenity card -internet service eg. aol for laptops -golf hints and tips for booking etc -getting guest passes -how to charge or fill up golf carts just some helpful tips for those of us who may be renting for the first time and are 'clueless' thanks doug |

there are three good sources of information for those who are 'clueless' about The Villages:
- the TOTV website. Just go to the Search box - the property owner or agency you're renting from - The Villages website and the offices listed in the Villages phone directory. Good luck, and remember - Ignorance can really be bliss! |

Ask the Owners
Quote:
The folks you will be renting from should be able to answer all your questions, but this is what I recall from renting last year: To get an amenity card the owners basically transfer their Villagers' ID to you for $50. You take care of this at the sales office. That's where you fill out the forms and pay the $50. Then you walk across the square at Lake Sumter Landing to The Villages.Net office and sign up. (You need the amenity card first). I think it costs around $15 for a month of villages.net. You need this to access the tee time system via computer. There's also a free phone number you can call for tee times. Depending on what kind of internet access your rental house has, you just log on to AOL as you normally would. If your house doesn't have internet, you can use dial-up, or there are computers you can use (for free!) at the Savannah Center, and some of the regional rec centers have wireless internet where you can use your own laptop. (I used Lake Miona) There are also several free WiFi locations around the Villages. You can apply for guest passes at the villages.net website or fill out an application at your local rec center. Don't wait until the last minute to do this; it takes a few days. Your guests don't have to be there when you apply for the guest passes. Your owners should have instructions on how to fill up/charge your golf cart. Make your reservation and get down here! You'll love it! Judy PS: Don't let the name fool you into thinking this is a tiny little village. Do you have a Villages map? You'll need the map. It might help to bring a compass, too.

Hi Judy
Thanks so much for the info. We can't wait until we get there and I am gradually gaining more and more info. It is always a concern until you there and then everything works out. I appreciate everyone helping out. Doug |
