I do not often agree with your posts, but you are onto something here. It is uncomfortable to do those discussions, and not easy. It requires LISTENING and compromise also.
Our country has very little of the discipline required thus we are what we are !!! |

I have always thought the likenesses of Jesus, wherever you may see them, were created by various artists. And, as I understand it, art is a creative process based on what the artist visualizes in his or her own mind. You can't argue with art. It is what it is.
Therefore, this thread strikes me as an effort to get even with "evil" white people who plundered, enslaved and killed blacks throughout history. I think it's time to let go of it. Peace to all and Merry Christmas! |

I am not a Bible scholar by any means but does the Bible indicate what race Jesus was? If it does, maybe that is relevant, if not, maybe that is relevant.

Does the color of Jesus's skin, whether real or perceived, make any difference to anyone ?

I don't believe it should.

Lou, you do know how to stir the pot! First, I am fairly confident that Jesus Christ was not blond and blue eyed. I agree with the basic premise of the article, that the image was portrayed as"white" in order to appeal to the largest constituency of Christianity. I can think of a number of "true believers" who would change their beliefs drastically if presented with indisputable evidence that Christ was black.
The article, while interesting, contains one giant error in stating that the color of black people becomes white in three generations and vice versa. If that is the case how do descendants of slaves, here for ten generations or more in some cases, remain black (provided they are not of mixed heritage). Egregious errors like that in what purports to be a scholarly piece destroy the credibility of the author and all the "facts" presented. To me, it is a non issue, but to many it would be huge.

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.

Personally, I could care less what color anybody was, is, or will be.

Donb9006 is the one poster that has not been mean spirited and sarcastic on this thread. Thank you don, and if you are in fact an atheist, I must take a closer look at atheism. Is it the norm for atheists vs Christians to be more all inclusive?

Personally, I have never given it a thought. He accepted me just the way I am, and I accept him just the way He is now or however He was when He walked this earth.
I prefer to have my faith as it is to me, and I don't care what the talking heads have to say....one way or the other. I am just eternally grateful that we live in this country where we can have our opinions, voice them or not. Merry Christmas to all and a very Happy New Year!
