Default Check out the Chevrolet line of equivilent

vehicles. Their new generation platforms, quality, price and mileage are equal to and in some cases better.

Buy American and help US manufacturing recover (yes, I am aware of the non US content in some vehicles and yes some are made outside the US) by buying those made here.

Kia just built a really big plant in Georiga. It has put alot of people to work here in the UAS.I bought a Sorreno crossovers last year and am very happy with it.The guarantee is better than any USA car makers

We are also ready to go back to a Minivan. We had two Chevy Astros and loved both of them. They ran forever, and never needed anything other than minor maintenance. The Astro was unique... unlike any SUV or Crossover, I could get a full 8 X 10 sheet of plywood in the back if working on a project, or carry eight people all while getting over 20mpg overall. Unfortunately, GM discontinued them.

I am not sure any US manufacturer makes a true Minivan at this time. Unfortunately, car body styles seem almost to follow the whim of what is in "fashion". Nothing beats the Minivan for versatility.

Regarding the Kia, my neighbor has one and they love it. Honda is supposed to be the highest rated, but they are also the most expensive from what I understand. Maybe the folks from GM or Ford will read this and get their act together (I have it on good word that they monitor this forum... ha, ha!).

Ford does make something close, but it looks like it is just a small work van.

Allen,

I have a 2000 Astro Van back in Michigan with 80,000 miles on it and it’s still running strong. I finished our basement there and everything but the bulk of the dry wall came home in that van and it still looks great. I plan on keeping it for as long as I can. And you’re right. it is different from any thing else.

We’ve leased a 2006 Town and Country and then when the gas prices went over $4 our next lease was a 2008 Mazda 5, which is kind of a mini van (it has sliding doors). We love the Mazda, but the lease is up
in May and for around $1,000 more than a new Mazda 5 I could buy a Sedona.

By the way, I retired form Ford and get a discount but they don’t have a van in the price or size of a Sedona. I also looked into extending the warranty to equal Kia and it would cost round $1,000. Ford and GM have given up on the mini van segment and it doesn’t leave me with much of a choice.

We own our second Town & Country and love it. It comes in handy when moving, traveling to see friends and family, and oh the shopping trips.(Our friends don't understand why we still drive a mini van after our children are out of the house). Not only that, instead of friends packing in a car, there is plenty of room in a mini van. We can all go together! After all, six of us can't fit in a golf cart. Good luck in selecting and purchasing your new mini van.

Good to know we won't be the only ones in TV with a minivan. We have a 2002 Honda Odyssey that still runs and looks great.

We bought the Sedona in 2002 after shopping all minivans on the market. The price was the best although I was concerned about a Korean car company. Also, it was also the first year they made a minivan. As someone who checks out Consumer Reports, there was no data to look at, so I took a chance.

We drove it until January 2009 and 175,000 miles. I sold it to my daughter who is still driving it. I replaced it with the Sorento. I am extremely happy with Kia and wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.
