I bought a GE and am happy but I wish I could have gotten an old style with knobs and no control board. Apparently all Even the most simple washers have control boards now

Good luck with your washer. I am hopeful mine lasts more than a year
Beware of such comment from."Store sales people." for that matter anyone. It is so easy to verify. Used to be called spiff money. You sell xyz and you get..........
If no spiff on what they are looking at you need to unsell that.

Mom didn't want an automatic but acquiesced when Dad became ill and her time was demanded for his care. Things are not built like that today. Our refrigerator had an issue with a leaking hose. I looked it up on the internet. Apparently, a common problem with this model. Warranty was if I recall a year. It was almost two years old. Before I buy stuff I research reviews, I start with negatives. Stuff like doesn't fit as it is bigger than normal. HUM I was not aware of that. Others are like this item priced at 29 dollars is not as good as the one that sells for 100

I believe most of us who call repair people for issues don't scream and swear. I'm sure there is the corner drunk who would make a liar of me. How often do you use your appliances? We have a higher end Whirlpool "Kitchenaid" double door refrigerator and took out the five year warranty. Center closer flap hasn't work properly for most of it's life and the warranty service sucked. Live and learn.

Why is that?. We done to ourselves cause Chinese know they can buy technology cause we are weak and greedy.

“Often confused with this era is the "Great Leap Forward" (1958-1960), led by Mao Zedong, which caused a massive, artificial collapse in steel quality and metalworking knowledge”

“ Paul Monroe,,A Columbia University professor active in the 1920s who helped modernize the Chinese education system, promoting science.
Charles Denby,,U.S. Minister to China (1885–1898) who pushed for modernized education and industrialization”

Scum will build up. But perhaps use less soap? You only should be using 1-2 tablespoons of (liquid) detergent. I normally use 1, everything’s clean and fresh.
Also, throw in one of those washer cleaning packets every 6 months.
I take out the filter a few times a year and all is well. No appreciable build up.

All these similar types has the same circuit board.

"Whirlpool washers, particularly newer Vertical Modular Washer (VMW) models made between 2023 and 2024, have been linked to significant control board failures, often resulting in a continuous drain pump running, inoperable start buttons, and error codes. These failures often stem from faulty pressure sensors or moisture intrusion into the console. The issue affects several related brands under the Whirlpool umbrella, including Maytag, Amana, KitchenAid, JennAir, and Admiral”

Mind was made after cutoff so lot more models going to have same problem? Got tired dealing with it knowing it was just going break down again.

I went out in garage and on it’s own the sump pump was running, (glad I caught it with hour or two could been fire hazard setting there running?) the panel was dead, all I could do was unplug it. Ok. I thought maybe just reset? No luck with 15 seconds heard relay click then pump started up. I was pretty discussed with it anyway and after dealing with appliance direct (another mistake) they would not return calls (cause they knew they sold some junk and now way to repair it in timely manner). And yes I had the extended warranty which i called there warranty number which another waste time. Less learned number two 2.

Having speed queen TC5 delivered as this afternoon. Had wonderful experience with Ken & Kerrie’s, done everything over the phone! I’ll be washing tonight! I like this model nothing fancy (especially electronics) dial model that all I want to do it wash clothes, and bonus don’t have that energy water saving crap. 5 year parts and labor warranty which got be better than crap I just got rid of.

From now one I will be doing thorough search on brand to see if it has any known problems. Refrigerator’s IMO also can be linked to several brands and problems? Mistake no 3!

So there 3 mistakes I suggest don’t make when buying appliances. Yep I’m embarrassed, I thought I was smarter than that….

Update

Done cycle wash, this washer is quite, fills up tub, don’t rattle, shake, or vibrate. Washes in 1/3 time of electronic energy saving pos.
Good advice, especially at this time as a new washer and dryer looks to be in our very near future.

"They don't make 'em like they used to" seems more and more true, as the years and decades go by, when it comes not only to washers and dryers but appliances in general.

Case in point: my brother has a refrigerator which lives in his basement and keeps his beer cold. It belonged to my parents who purchased it new when they got married...in 1947! That is close to 80 years of constant 24/7/265 use. If they could build 'em that rugged back in 1947 they could certainly do so today, but they obviously won't. Appliance manufacturers are in business not only to build but to SELL appliances. Oh, they can change the appearance of their product, hang on some extra bells and whistles, etc. in order to entice buyers, but IMO most people are reluctant to toss an appliance that is working perfectly well just so they can get the newest glossy model.

Something we have to live with.

Agree, use less soap. I had no control what previous owners/renters did. My house was rental for years set mostly empty through summer and got use in season renting.

We purchased the Maytag washer and dryer because they have worked well for us at our northern home. After less than 4 months of use, we're waiting for the control board and complete top unit (backorder), plus we had the blower unit on the dryer replaced. Sounds like a class action suit waiting to happen.

That is reason I decided to junk mine, after researching I knew there was nothing going to done quick. Too old to go Landry mats especially when none close to me.

I saved my paperwork just in case that happens?

Ken & Kerrie’s was best experience I had buying product. Done everything over phone (cause I knew what I wanted before hand) they had item in stock. Called at 1:30 PM inquiring and at 4:30 PM same day it was installed and new old junk was hauled off.
I didn’t have to go to store look and deal with salesman fill out all paperwork, paid and get delivery date. They are on 441/27 in fruit land park just before Walmart on right by close palm street next door to Dr. jerkin’s dental office if interested in Speed Queen? was only dealer I could find close.

Sure like this washer 100% better than previous two. Don’t rattle vibrate around, don’t may noise when spinning like housing is falling down. At least 30% quicker cycle with full drum water. Towels wash cloths don’t feel like sandpaper other cloths are softer. Very pleased! when dryer goes we be getting QS. If we move the SQs going with us.

I’ll give it a bump for anybody that’s thinking on buying washers.

So, that don’t mean they make them like they use to? As I found out
