Default Jodi arias verdict watch

JODI ARIAS VERDICT WATCH: Jury Deliberating Arias' Fate
JODI ARIAS VERDICT WATCH: JURY DELIBERATING ARIAS’ FATE

Now that the jury has gone home for the weekend.........and will not return to deliberate again until Monday.......

Who thinks Jodi Arias will be charged with Felony Murder and get lethal injection as the death penalty?

Who thinks the jury will agree on a verdict of manslaughter which could be 20 years???

Who thinks it will be a hung jury or a mistrial?

Who had the stronger closing argument: Juan Martinez, the Prosecutor or Kirk Nurmi, the Defense Attorney?

I haven't been following it that closely, but who thinks she's one kinky lady...and prurient jurors won't give her the death penalty?

Me.

She seems so much like Casey Anthony.

Has anyone reading this forum ever known any one in real life that was a pathological liar?

I haven't.

I learned a lot from this trial about Mormon dating practices.

I truly am ignorant about a lot of stuff having to do with other peoples religions..

I wish I could take a course on the religions of the world that wouldn't be biased.

Neither Jodi Arias nor Travis Alexander seemed like any LDS* members I've ever known (Latter Day Saints* also known as Mormons)...

I wouldn't take their "dating practices" at face value.

They had a love / hate relationship of a compulsive explosive nature.
Supposedly he was a Bishop in his church but had his own weird set of rules.........in his personal life. Also, towards the end he was seeking a pure Mormon girl to become his wife........with tainted Jodi left in the lurch. I don't condone murder in any shape or form.......I do think it was a crime of passion and self defense after she dropped the camera and he became violently angry.............I do not think it was premeditated.

But, who knows for sure? My husband wants her to get lethal injection.
I think she will serve life in prison. A waste of both lives.

They were toxic together..........to me it sounded like she was always trying to please him..........she should have moved on........and wouldn't have been in this predicament. Travis would be alive today.

Our daughter had a very nice family of Mormons as neighbors; the husband worked at Norwich University for many years until they decided to return out west; they still keep in touch. All four of the children were very friendly and kind. The mom was a good friend to my daughter and we'd all be together when we'd go up for the children's birthdays.........
They dressed conservatively, but then Vermont is conservative anyway.
They were just like you and I..........or anybody else for that matter.
No different.........

They do believe in stockpiling food for emergencies........no harm in that.

Joseph Smith actually was born in Vermont..........
Joseph Smith - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Other LDS members I've known are via ancestry.com.....

They've always been extremely polite and helpful.

The young members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are NOTHING like Jodi Arias and Travis Alexander.......

They are cleancut, helpful to a fault.......and will politely explain their doctrine if you ask.......not forceful in anyway...

They might seem "naive" compared to some young folks today. Perhaps all of that rigidity in remaining "pure" has some effect on some in going down the wrong road sexually, such as Travis and Jodi. When something is forbidden, people seem to want it more.....or think about it more.

With regard to LDS that I knew, when I challenged their "baptism by proxy" in which they take the names of our ancestors (who've already been baptised in other faiths such as Roman Catholicism) and carry them "by proxy" as names on a white sheet of paper to be re baptized in the Mormon church.......they explained in a polite way that they just feel everyone is entitled to enter the kingdom of heaven.......they have strong beliefs but are not pushy. Hard to explain. I've never met one that I didn't like personally. Helpful, kind folks......

The young men who would come to our door are very polite, neat and well spoken..........always nice.

We miss our daughter's neighbors who now live in Utah.....and they miss Vermont..........

I think Travis' position on a lot of things was "twisted" and Jodi , in her own "twisted" way, trying to please him, got hooked.......

He ended up dead..........something went terribly wrong.

He seemed quite affluent for a younger guy.....but that business was actually like a pyramid scheme if you paid attention at the beginning of the trial..............

Re Casey Anthony , I recently read the full psychiatric report by many psychiatrists..........and she was abused by her father from a young age.........which accounts for her not living in total reality.

It's common among children who were molested as children....

She's another one whose life is ruined.........however, I do believe the child died in the swimming pool........she was tried in the media due to Florida's "sunshine laws" of full disclosure........in the end, the prosecution could not PROVE to the jury that she killed her child. Supposedly, the child drowned and George "took care of it." This is why he attempted suicide. But, again, just what I've read.........who knows for sure. Only God knows..........

If Jodi Arias is acquitted, look for a new satellite orbiting Earth in the night sky!

Will never happen. She will get either LIFE or LETHAL INJECTION.

Life in an Arizona prison will not be a picnic, that's for sure.
I recently read of a female inmate in Arizona who had been "forgotten" in an outside exercise cage........and you know how HOT it gets in Arizona in the summertime.............

She admitted that she killed Travis when she took the stand.....Isn't that enough proof that she is guilty??? What I dont understand is why they still are going on with this case...what am I missing??

Now that is the most logical question I have heard in a long time.
You are right LynnDeb.

It is almost an insanity trial without that being charged.

I guess you are missing the fact that the constitution guarantees a trial before your peers to determine if you are guilty of a crime. Arias attempted a plea bargain of second degree which was turned down by the state who wants a conviction of first degree. Can't happen without a trial.

It is not a matter of guilty or innocent.

After three different stories, she finally admitted that she had killed Travis. So, she is guilty of murdering Travis.

She said it also during the trial. The jury knows that she killed Travis.

It's a death penalty case.

The prosecution (the state of Arizona) claims it was premeditated murder which is first degree felony murder.

The defense claims she killed Travis in self defense after he attacked her when she dropped his new camera in the shower.....she claims she killed him rather than be killed herself, by him, in his violent rage.

That would be manslaughter or some lesser murder charge.

So, it's either death penalty by lethal injection which might take twelve or more years with many appeals.........

Or.......it is manslaughter or some other lesser type of murder.
That would save her life.......and "perhaps" she'd get out in 20 years.
I've heard different versions by different attorneys.

You'd have to go back and listen to what the judge has said or "will say" once the verdict is read and/or the sentencing happens.

Juan Martinez, the Prosecutor, kept pushing for Felony Murder.....as the state believes it was premeditated (due to the gas cans, the theft of the gun, etc.)

All along the state has said she was stalking Travis; his friends claim it was like the movie FATAL ATTRACTION.

Having worked psych cases in prisons, what interests me is the razor we don't have for understanding and judging mental health issues.

It's as simple as.....murder vs. self-defense.

Killing someone...isn't always a crime.
