Default Magic Chef Freezer

Does anyone have experience with Magic Chef Appliances? I am looking at a Magic Chef Freezer to purchase from Home Depot and wonder if it is a good brand to purchase. Thanks

I recently shopped around for a freezer......ended up deciding on the 7 cubic foot chest freezer at Sam's Club. It's made by G.E. and came with some extras like a divider and lock and 2 baskets and was less then $200.00. The 5 cu. ft model was only $30.00 less but had WAY less room because the conpressor takes up some of the space in all freezers....

I also purchased an inexpensive freezer alarm from Amazon....it constantly gives the inside and outside temp and sounds an alarm if the temp starts going up. Cheap insurance.....

I like the fact that the cold stays "down" when opening a chest freezer. My wife bought plastic baskets for "chicken", "beef", etc so she can quickly get to stuff without digging.

These newer freezers are much more energy efficient then the older ones...

Hope that helps!

Frank

I have not had experience with Magic Chef but I bought a small chest freezer from Sears back in 2002 and it is still going strong. It is just enough for the two of us.

Thanks for the responses. I am actually looking for an upright about 7 or 8 cu ft. Does Sam's have one of those? I do not shop there. I like the idea of a name brand like GE.

I do not think so. It's nice we have so many options in where to shop and what to buy....Good luck!

Mine is 7 cubic feet and like I said it is from Sears so it is a Kenmore. Always a good brand that I have been satisfied with.

Good luck with your freezer hunting.

Does anyone have experience with Magic Chef before I go out today to purchase this freezer? I don't want to get a bad one.
