The verdict, and the public reaction to the verdict, are news. It's the media's job to be there to cover the news and present it to us. I for one am glad they do. Cronkite's news team covered plenty of citizen protests, as did Huntley and Brinkley, Peter Jennings, Dan Rather, John Chancellor, Harry Reasoner, Tom Brokaw and a host of others. (For example, the various protests to the Vietnam War, and Kent State, and the struggles for Civil Rights and racial equality and women's rights). And by bringing it to our attention they did some good. Let's not shoot the messenger.

I agree its the media, they wet there pants, when they get ministers to get up and "Praise the Lord", MLK would be ashamed of all this.

And then you get the ding dong news reporters that can't wait to report on the 'Breaking News' of the pilots names and make complete fools of themselves.

CNN / HLN now has 4 hours - repeat 4! - every single week night of covering whatever trial has the most scandal. It started with Jodi Arias, continued onto George Z., and they already have another woman lined up (see commercials). Then, we also have good 'ol Jodi to look forward to once again...Gag.
I read a British online newspaper very day, as well, and the way they report on the GZ trial, you would that all of America is in flames. Seriously, it's shocking what other countries will / do think of us! The media tells you what THEY want you to know, period. Each has their own unique bend on the news. That's one reason I read many different papers, just trying to get some news in middle. |

It's times like this that I'm glad I don't have television. But I think you are correct in your assesment. These are media corporations and corporations are designed to make money, plain and simple. Corporations don't have a social conscience. Their motto is, "show me the money!"

of course the media incites these events...lights/camera/action!!!
No lights/no camera/no action!!!! There are hundreds and hundreds of these people (insert what ever color/race/religion you want) killing EACH OTHER every single day. No attention to these.....why not? If you live in TV you have most certainly watched one of the the lettered news organizations from Orlando. You know the first 10-15 minutes EVERY SINGLE DAY presenting the local murder, mayhem, rape and who shot/stabbed who report. Maybe a 30 second to one minute spot and then never heard about again. The missing ingredient is the what's in it for "us" factor?!! When newscaster, politicians, special interest groups see a hint of a flame of notoriety or national exposure opportunity just watch how quickly they supply the need fuel to get a blaze going. No secret to the prevailing race winds what so ever....none!!!! btk |
