As an ex-Tesla employee (retired) I will say one thing about Tesla.

When you read words like "Motor and Gearbox Assembly - USA" that does not mean the components came from the USA.

They take a Foxconn China made Electric Motor and Gearbox and bolt them together in Fremont, California, then say it was "Assembled in the USA".

Many other "USA Assembly" parts use this play on words.

Tesla is run by a very clever group of people that are great at manipulating data.

Not sure but on my wifes car the value of it is less than the cost of changing the chain.

I believe that the likelihood of the pistons hitting the valves depends on it being an "interference" engine or not.

Most all engines made today are interference engines.

Chains, idlers, and attaching hardware lasts very long time. Usually engine codes will pop up before they fail. Timing belts last long time also but they are preventative maintenance item and small risk of them breaking.
