Even though we live in the "safe" Villages, I decided to get a doorbell camera system. Jogged by the Guthrie case.

Even though we have cameras in our front. They did not cover the entryway very well. All set now. Got a nice simple one on Amazon.

Our neighbors got one a while back and it must not have been set right as I would go out the front door to the street and get "You are being recorded"!

As for the poll, I have my thoughts, but it reminds me of online Betting, on a horrible issue.

We had a monitored system put in parents home. One early onset dementia special door locks and alarm went off if mom tried to take a walk at 2am. Alerting my dad and my phone.

My dad gardened, back door camera alerted my phone, he waved with a basket to retrieve vegetables.
Cameras picked up his fall. Rescue arrived 10 minutes before me.

Some call dementia devices and cameras invasion of privacy. I call it peace of mind.

I couldn't agree with you more. My first thought was how tasteless, should we start taking a poll as to when people posting here will die and how?

I thought the same thing. But there are, so far, 15 people who do not feel that way.

What about someone that was familiar with property, land scraper helper, delivery's, maintenance done in pass?. Somebody that knew her situation and layout?

I have been following this closely on the news etc. 3 weeks now. So sad. But I find this poll so interesting how others feel about it. IMO lost hope after all this time with no valid ransom demands. Was there any valuables taken. Forced entry??? I know the LEOs must keep facts private but leaves so much unknown.
Feel so sorry for the family. Initially thought that the son in law may be involved, but.
Bottom line why Nancy??? Living so close to Mexico, maybe a link there. Perhaps a revenge against Savanna or NBC? So unusual to do this against an 84 yo. Why??? And I’m sure the family has angst re not ensuring the cam video subscription was renewed. Did the Perp know this re the cam system. Perhaps a paid hit job for whatever reason. Just hope that the law enforcement get a break on the case to end the family trauma.

The guy on the door camera looked like a real amateur but I do not know what that actually means to the investigation. We should, of course, help out if we know or see something but it is best to let the professionals do their jobs.

He knew there was camera’s there and planned accordingly. Unless he was lone wolf homeless eventually he will get caught IMO.

Big Brother thanks you heartily for doing so as they also participate in capturing video of your property/street/neighbors.

It was downright genius, if you ask me. The Feds seeing to it that private companies create surveillance products that regular citizens buy and voluntarily use. That's much easier than the Govt having to fund cameras everywhere (like in London) and getting the predictable lawsuits and pushback from the public.

Having said that, Asianthree's comment #6 illustrates very effective and necessary use of such products. So, they do have a place.

Yes, indeed....why Nancy? I don't know why but, I can offer two pieces of information.

It is truly amazing that this highly unusual 'kidnapping' (as declared by at least two different experts on these matters) occurred just as a motherload of long-awaited files were released about a notorious criminal. The Guthrie mainstream media coverage has almost entirely displaced coverage of the contents of those files. Notice that? What a coincidence. (But, there has been LOTS of examination and analysis of those file contents online. So, look there, if interested.)

The other piece of info is that Savannah's husband, Michael Feldman, had proven interactions with Jeffrey Epstein and, possibly, an ongoing business relationship. How that might factor, I don't know.
