I wonder if he went down it or up it?

Our cat Smokey in Reno, Nevada brought what we thought as a dead bird through the doggie door and proudly dumped it at our feet. She was in for a big surprise but not as much as us when it started flying around the house. I opened the flue on the chimney and eventually the bird flew up there and out.

I wonder if this burglar tried the entry to the house via the chimney or he came in another way and was trying to hide from the home-owner?
