It feels to me like you are anti-police. A firefighter is not a job for wimps either, and I have utter respect for it, but a LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER is enforcing the laws that keep society in tow. A firefighter responds to fires and to accidents that hurt people. The whole framework of a peaceful society is in question when you question the laws and the people who enforce them. I think that there is a sea change in society that many laws and rules are "no big deal". ( The ones that those people don't like) I have heard more than one person on this forum complain because they were pulled over for running a stop sign. I have heard it said that laws about marijuana use are a joke. I have heard it said that prostitution is a service industry and that laws need to be lessened about it. People in high public office have said that too many black youths are locked up for minor crimes like Marijuana use. Behaving themselves seem to be too big a job for too many people. If you are not handicapped there is nothing that would keep an able bodied person in this country from not breaking the law...it is a choice you have to make. It is planning your life. It is being respectful to others. It is the right thing to do.

The whole framework of a peaceful society is in question when you CANNOT question the laws and the people who uphold them. Criticism and questions are not attacks. Not everyone who questions or criticizes is a cop hater and no institution is beyond questioning. I personally found their behavior at the funeral of a fellow officer horrible. It reminded me of the antics of the westboro baptist church people.

I don't think it was the right thing to do either, and I have no problem with people questioning anything, but you really just changed the subject. AND the great thing about women, a quality that men don't have, is that I can sense what your real attitude is. And it is very different than mine.

That may be the most despicable comment and the most hateful and wrong I have ever seen. You owe everyone on this forum an apology or you need to be spending time pulling up all the evidence you can provide all of us to see to justify your bile. Go back into your hiding place behind the stove.

Test yourself here https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/ Click on the GO box to the right of the US Flag, then click at the bottom of the warning page "I wish to proceed" I would suggest taking the race, religion and weapons tests. They ask for demographic but you can skip all of that and just click on the bottom of the pages where it says ok. |

I am a simple man.
If the police stop protecting me and mine, I am prepared to take up the void. |

Blueash, I don't swallow something whole. I know what I think and I have changed my mind over the years, going from pretty liberal to pretty conservative in most things. It is a natural thing to happen as people age and gain knowledge of the world. I am far more realistic than I was as a young person. I know that I would like the world to be a place where everyone does their share, but that isn't happening. You are doing your share, Blueash and I am doing my share, now it is time to allow the people who are not, to learn a little better how to take care of themselves. You have in your mind that I am a Tea Party Republican and I am not. I KNOW what I believe today, but it may change tomorrow and I may need a gun and if I do I will buy one and learn how to use it. I am sick of people with pie in the sky ideas trying to sell their unrealistic programs. I am done with young people taking things from people who work. I am sick of people stealing from people who save. I am tired of people making excuses for their laziness and living off the government. I very much care that those who cannot take care of themselves have health care and food and shelter. I really think that people addicted to drugs should not be receiving welfare, but I don't think anyone should tell someone that abortion shouldn't be legal or that their religion or lack of it is a superior way to look at things. I am for the separation of church and state, but I hate the hateful way many people are trying to make their point about that. Do not ask me to figure out what my values are. I know what my values are. I am pretty sure I know what your values are. You are a decent, honest man, who has worked hard to accomplish what he has and has spent his life doing good for others and saving lives and soothing all kinds of wounds. Your intelligence is in the top three percent of the population......... But your way at looking at world events is not the only way or in some cases the right way in my opinion. No one can force people to accept their views on things. They can live in such a way that others see something good to emulate...but we have to accept that not everyone is born with equal abilities and we have to be practical about that knowledge. You think better social programs and more money spent on social programs will heal the ills of society and I feel that not enabling people to be lazy is a help toward a better society.

GG I agree with most of what you have said. I am tired of do gooders who foster keeping people on the dole. I am sick of environmentalist stupid arguments that cripples progress causes unemployment, and worse yet so called intellectuals that stifle free speech in the guise of ( "outsider juripurdence", "critical race theory", "critical feminist theory"' and "storytelling"theory to define some kinds of politically incorrect speech as not speech at all but mechanisms of subordination" Barr a Fisher, Fleishman & Fischer Law firm)
