I just read that OJ might be set free...again...because of a mistake his defense attorney made in the first trial. How does this guy keep sliding under the law? Hopefully he's broke and will end up on skid row somewhere. I just hope he doesn't move to TV!!!!

How has Simpson..."slid under the law?"
While I personally think he was guilty as heck for the murders, our court system disagreed. It isn't, by any means, the first verdict I've disagreed with...nor obviously will it be the last. BUT.....it was done in accordance with our laws. I also think (and had no problem with), his armed robbery conviction was "payback" for skating on the murders. However, if it's shown that there were violations in the process.. he should be able to contest that. After all, that's one of the things that makes this country so great. ![]() .

You've got me riled now. I worked for 8 years as a professional trying to protect children from sexual abuse. Our system almost never prosecutes perpetrators because children are not believed and are easily intimidated.
I've served as foreperson of two juries who had no understanding of law or what their job was or how to use objective judgment and critical thinking. I've seen arrests and charges filed that were clearly not going to have a fair trial because the assigned judge made a decision based on his/her biases. I think that justice is a joke and the system of champion representation in law is the furthest thing from a trial by peers and the whole truth. Buttons all pushed, dang me, Kitty |

And I think that justice goes out the window when money "talks"!

the justice system allows the experts (lawyers) to USE, not USE, or hise behind the so called letter of the law.....hence open to abuse.
What is right about a guilty conviction....FOUND GUILTY by a jury....being overturned because of a procedural error? If the procedural error would in fact change the the evidence leading to a not guilty or reasonable doubt, that is one issue. But to wipe away the juries evaluation simply because of procedure = legal abuse....washing away the use of common sense. In my as usual very humble opinion. btk |

I agree with btk.
Letting someone go because of a procedural error which would not alter the facts is ridiculous. Of course, IMO sentencing someone to "25 to life" and then letting them out in (say) 7 years is a joke. If it is 25 to life then the minimum should be 25 ! Am I missing something?
