Our High School Band is there. They played Sunday in Tiananmen Square and yesterday at the Great Wall and their last performance is tomorrow at the opening womens soccer game.

When they go on these special trips they usually have about 250 band members and 150 adult (parent and teacher) chaperons - lotsa car washes! The school is one of the largest in Norcal with a student population of around 4,200.

I know a woman named Betty Perkins-Carpenter...she is on the Olympic committee again this year. She is a phenominal woman and I am going to work with TV's to try to get her here as a guest speaker...she puts on a fun show....talking about her life...and olympics...and all sorts of awesome topics...

do a google on her....she is great! she would come tell us all about the "inside" scoop of the Olympics....

We were lucky enough to see the building site for the Olympics when we were in Beijing last year.

Did you get to see the Opening Ceremonies tonight ?? It was a sight to behold. Unbelievable. 15,000 chinese participated in the performances tonight. The little boy who survived the earthquake in May really touched me. Hope to be at the ceremonies in Van Couver

The magnitude, the phenominal choreography, the costumes, the smiles of pride. It was unbelievable, magnificent, amazing!! I was totally impressed and in awe. I was also happy to be facing a TV when we went out for dinner last night!

Oh how proud you must be! How wonderful for the kids. What a lot of work and planning on the part of the adults who love them. What memories. It gives me chillbumps to think about it.

It was so amazing to watch last night.

The Opening Ceremony was truly a sight to behold!!!! The fireworks were truly amazing!!!! As with all of the Olympics, I worry about the safety of the teams and all those attending. Just read that a relative of the US Indoor Volleyball Coach was killed and another seriously injured by "a knife-wielding Chinese Man" at the Drum Tower which is a tourist site 5 miles from Stadium. The assailant then committed suicide by jumping from the tower. The victims were not wearing anything that would indicate they were from the US so this appears to be just another random act of violence that is such a part of our existence these days. My heart goes out to their families. Let's all remember them in our prayers.
