that's me!!! smack dab in between both points!

but life is still good here this morning. state is pretty much flooded at the ocean front areas from the tip at cape may county all the way up thru ocean county. some monmouth county towns have minor flooding along their ocean avenues so far today [but high tide is passing] and the low lying areas along the back bays are somewhat flooded, too. that will all likely change tonite when the moon high tide rolls in! hopefully, all but the emergency responders who had to go to wrok today will be home by the time that happens!

ciao for now!

Steady 30-40 gusts higher, 6,000 homes without power and it just started, tide is up to where Irene was already looks like flooding will be the real issue.

Some south shore streets R under water.

While our neighbors up north will be in our prayer these next couple of day, I hope all Villagers take a moment to thank God for this monster of a storm having not hit us. With it being 700+ miles wide, it certainly would have done tremendous damage to this entire state.
God Bless to all.

Default Different

What's different this time, and unique as far as hurricanes go is not it's strength, but the fact that Sandy is following the Gulf Stream north and then will take an almost hard left turn to the west, hitting the coast at a right angle. Something not seen before this far north. Why this is significant is that it will be pushing a record surge along with it, almost directly perpendicular to the shore. Then to make matters worse, it won't just blow through, but rather it will be held in place by a high pressure system off the coast blocking it's exit. It's already is expected to be the most severe storm to ever hit N.J.

Funny, here in NY we always thought of Florida bearing the brunt of these crazy storms. Last year at this time, we had a freak blizzard, this year, a "Frankenstorm", part hurricane, part nor'easter.
Ah, to be a FROG.....can't wait.

At 1012 here in Baltimore it's 54 degrees, a steady (but not hard) rain and the wind has picked up a bit from last night. At this point if you didn't know about the storm, you'd just think it was a lousy day.

I'm out on the east end near Riverhead.

Wind has increased in the last few hours to 40+, almost no rain.

We have a biz located in Copiague next door to your son, also Selden and Carle Pl., all require electric we have big ass generators standing by.

Tonite is going to get much worse they say.

Default Here in South Jersey

...just praying, praying, praying...

Wish we had retired already and joined you fine folks in TV. Gov. Cristie has mandated that all non-essential personnel be off the roads. Already have had tons of rain and the wind is very intense. So far we haven't lost electricity. We're on the border of Atlantic and Camden Counties.

10:42am...the storm has begun its left-hand turn...constant 45mph winds with up to 65mph gusts blowing onshore...thus, high tide waters cannot exit the shoreline...will remain this way thru the day...and will really knock our socks off when the next high tide comes in tonite! wowzaa! likely to be all that has been predicted!

Our son is getting married Nov. 4 in Middletown, Connecticut. We were leaving yesterday and going to the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina where we used to live, see some friends and also see our cabins we built, then on to Connecticut. NC is expecting 11 inches of snow tonight so not going there. We are now leaving Wednesday or Thursday and going straight to Connecticut. I feel so bad for my future daughter-in-law, too much stress, and so much planning for a year to have a wonderful wedding. I pray everything will work out.

Got a phone call at 8 AM by our local emergency management office that stated the governor had mandated all non-essential personnel are to be off the roads.

oh! that sounds like a miscommunication! lol real good info is available here 511nj.org :: Home and here NJTA Mobile

the gov's office screwed up on another announcement today! trying to correct same using lots of media outlets! "***GARDEN STATE PARKWAY: UPDATE*** A source at the New Jersey Turnpike Authority tells us: "We handle both the Turnpike and the Parkway. Please let people know that the Garden State Parkway is closed southbound ONLY at Exit 38. Northbound is open to traffic. For the time being anyway. The Governor's Office's tweet was WRONG and that issue is being addressed." lol

right now there is no state-wide travel ban - just some travel bans that have been implemented for local towns and counties. as i posted before, atlantic county is one that implemented a travel ban as of midnite last nite. maybe the gov will a change the situation in his noon press conference!

may we all fare well thru the duration!
